Ad says... 3 controllers and an easy light linker in a custom enclosure.

I wonder how well that ELL is going to work with the antenna inside of a metal box?

I do not see any thing to accomodate the electric cords running out to the display elements. No sockets or pigtails. No hole in the box?

Yeah...I never was any good at math.

I just gave a quick look at the first picture and just saw the two controllers...

I wonder how well that ELL is going to work without a mate?

Ad does say he will sell you the ELL pair for a discounted price and the box is made of ABS plastic.

When I first saw this yesterday I thought these were CTB16D's. But they're CTB16PCs... You can buy those new, at full price, for $142 (assembled with high-power heat sinks). A single ELL is $150 at full price.

So that means $576 of LOR products (at the maximum possible price) are being sold for $750. Is that really a $174 enclosure??

Not meant to offend the seller if they're a member here :P (hey if you can get those prices, more power to ya! :D )

(ETA: I originally posted this when I screwed up my math and thought the enclosure was $316. Still $174 seems a bit high...)

I don't think his profit margin is that bad. Would I pay? No. But the other question is how much would I want to make if this was a product I developed and was trying to sell?

He probably has more than 10 hours into building this. That's not a great $/hr ROI. Now if he sells a few, efficiencies go up as does $/hr.

Actually he will sell just the enclosure for $80.

So then the Cat-5 cables are worth $94? :P

Again, I wouldn't have even posted my comment if i hadn't screwed up my math and thought the enclosure was $300+. I went back and edited my math to correct the numbers but it was a little late to retract my whole statement by that point . I still think it's overpriced (plus I don't personally like having that many channels in one place). But it's not quite as overpriced as I had originally thought.

I agree with you that it is overpriced...but I think you and I (and probaly most associated with LOR) like to do things ourselves. For someone who doesn't have the time or expertise to do something like that, they may see it as a bargain.

As for not having that many channels in one place, in my display I will have the need to have 192 channels under my Weber Tree!! (and no, they aren't ALL for the tree).
