jimswinder Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 2 Controllers in Custom Made enclousrehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320548696258&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
Paul Roberson Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Ad says... 3 controllers and an easy light linker in a custom enclosure.
Max-Paul Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I wonder how well that ELL is going to work with the antenna inside of a metal box?
Ed P Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I do not see any thing to accomodate the electric cords running out to the display elements. No sockets or pigtails. No hole in the box?

Tim Fischer Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 When I first saw this yesterday I thought these were CTB16D's. But they're CTB16PCs... You can buy those new, at full price, for $142 (assembled with high-power heat sinks). A single ELL is $150 at full price. So that means $576 of LOR products (at the maximum possible price) are being sold for $750. Is that really a $174 enclosure??Not meant to offend the seller if they're a member here (hey if you can get those prices, more power to ya! )(ETA: I originally posted this when I screwed up my math and thought the enclosure was $316. Still $174 seems a bit high...)
iresq Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I don't think his profit margin is that bad. Would I pay? No. But the other question is how much would I want to make if this was a product I developed and was trying to sell?He probably has more than 10 hours into building this. That's not a great $/hr ROI. Now if he sells a few, efficiencies go up as does $/hr.

Again, I wouldn't have even posted my comment if i hadn't screwed up my math and thought the enclosure was $300+. I went back and edited my math to correct the numbers but it was a little late to retract my whole statement by that point . I still think it's overpriced (plus I don't personally like having that many channels in one place). But it's not quite as overpriced as I had originally thought.

But it's not quite as overpriced as I had originally thought.I agree with you that it is overpriced...but I think you and I (and probaly most associated with LOR) like to do things ourselves. For someone who doesn't have the time or expertise to do something like that, they may see it as a bargain. As for not having that many channels in one place, in my display I will have the need to have 192 channels under my Weber Tree!! (and no, they aren't ALL for the tree).
