mike carlson Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Can I use a cbt16d to control an 8 x8 matrix of 64 120v LED, and how would I hookup a row / column. I gather the hot will be the one end, but can I separate the neutral line to use as the switching return line???Thanks for your help..Mike..
TitusCarnathan Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 do you want each individual light controlled or do you want just rows controlled

Thats US$219.00 for each 16 channel controller so already just in controllers you are up for US$876.00. Then you have to get the wires, the enclosures, the corex matrix chambers, the LED lights and a lot of work to put it all together. You will also be wasting your money using these controllers as they are rated at 2 amps per channel and I doubt you would use that capacity. The other option is to buy 4 CCRs and cut them up into sections of 12 pixels and create a 12 x16 matrix with RGB. (refer to my post on cutting up a CCR http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/forum89/22202.html) This is what i am currently testing at the moment and I will provide instructions, video and pictures in the near future on how to build one.The cost may end up being cheaper than your original plan ($250 x 4= US$1000) but the price includes the RGB lights as well and you get 192 pixel matrix with RGB instead of 64 pixel one colour matrix, you dont have a long construction period, this CCR matrix can be built in one night, the remaining 8 pixels can be kept as spares in case you loose a pixel. The matrix is light weight, durable and easy to manage compared to other designs. So i would weigh up your alternatives and give the CCR matrix a look
