What a Disappointment

Well just started to hook my CTB16PC-D to the computer, configured the comm port, ran the tests and everything checked out okay. Only problem is Channel 5 remains on at all times and does not react to any effects. When I try to run a sequence only channel 5 is lit and the rest of the channels do nothing. I would have thought buying a prebuilt board would have been tested before shipping. What is going wrong????

Well... don't be disappointed because any electronic device can have something happen during shipment.

I would contact support@lightorama.com and describe the issue with them and they will get a replacement right out.

The part blow is a triac. When in that state, it will not respond to any commands.

They go bad occasionally and have to be replaced.

I agree with Mountainwxman, but the OTHER problem you describe sounds to me like you have not assigned your channels to your particular controller. When you click on the channels down the left side of your sequence editor, it will let you set up that channel. Assign it to the controller and channel that you would like controlled. You will need to do this with each channel.

This assumes that the hardware utility worked as it should as you described above.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I had set up a show (only one sequence) and lo and behold at exactly 6:00 P.M. the controller worked except for channel 5. I thought I would see the lights being controlled when running a sequence in sequence editor. I know I can see the simulation but wanted to check my timings through the controller. Once again Thanks for the input.

Depending on product being purchased, the individual channels on a controller card are tested once or twice or three times. (LOR160xW have each individual channel tested 3 times). The CTB16PC assembled card has each channel tested once. Each card we sell spends a significant amount of time in the Quality Assurance department. It is very very rare that a LOR product is DOA.

I read in a subsequent post that the card was working except one channel. Your card is covered by warranty so you should contact support@lightorama.com to have your warranty covered.

The sequence editor will control the lights. If the show player works the sequence edititor will work also. However you must make sure that other LOR programs that control lights are not running. You must make sure shows are disabled and that the hardware utility is stopped.

At the bottom right corner of the sequence editor there is a comm indicator. If it is blue then you can control lights, red or yellow indicates that you will not be able to control the network.
