Is there a user friendly program that will allow me to make a montage of several different songs? Say 15-20 seconds of 4-5 songs? Hope I spelled" montage" correct if not, I just want to take bits of several songs and make a sequence out of it. If Audacity does this, is there anyone that can help this computer dummy figure it out?

On a second note. On a 10 foot arch, how much of an arch do you make it, or is it whatever looks good to you? Like maybe 2-3 foot off the ground or maybe more or less.

Thanks in advance

Hi Pete,

Audacity is definitely the place to go for editing/splicing music files. Unfortunately, there's no shortcuts that I know of - it's a matter of cut and paste. You need to use the zoom function to stretch out the waveform enough so you can precisely cut and splice where you need to. It can be tedious to get the spot exactly right, so keep the 'undo' button close by. Good luck!

Regarding the arch question, it all depends on how you want the arch to look. Personally, I like mine more flattened and closer to the ground as opposed to a tall, rounded hump. I space mine so the ends are 7.5 feet apart. Originally I did it like that to fit the available space and I liked the look so I'll keep it at that distance.

I use a free software called "Free Audio Editor". It seems like it is a good software, and guess what, its free :D You can do all kinds of things with the software. It took me about an hour or so to figure out the basics of it. It is really simple to use, and it does some really cool things. I think you can just google it and download it.

As far as the arches go, I would leave about 6 inches on each side, but it also depends on how much snow or rain you get.

Hope this helps,
Jesse

Audacity, it works well and it's compatable with the sequence editor. We've done several montage sequences.
