LOR and RGB

Where would be a good place to get the basics on RGB with LOR. It would appear that LED (single color) is likly to go the way of the DO DO Bird and the incandescent bulb. I have been reading the comments re: RGB but would like a crawl to walk on the implemtation with LOR (hardware wise).

You have a couple of options here. If you plan to use mainly LOR gear then you can either wait for LOR to release the new version of LOR which will have RGB tools included (im not sure what it will be like, i havent heard a great deal) or you could use Lightshow Pro which supports LOR as well as DMX and most of the other gear out there that the DIY community come up with. It all depends on the direction you want to take.

For me i am taking a more DIY & DMX approach, LOR served me very well last year but im expanding a lot and so are looking at ways to reduce cost and increase the joy that this hobby gives me by building things myself, so I have now gone to LightShow Pro. In the end you need to work out what gear you want to use, if its all LOR gear then stay with LOR software, if your going to mix it with DMX, then the better value way may be to get LSP ($89) and a DIY DMX dongle ($60), that way you can still use the LOR network with your LOR gear and also use a DMX network at the same time. The LOR IDMX ($259) will also allow you to use DMX in a LOR network but as you can see for every DMX universe required (thats only 4 x MPH pixels strings) you will require another IDMX.

I too, have used LOR since I got into the hobby (4 seasons), but after seeing the enhancements to LSP for sequencing RGB, I am going to change over this year. I am not that familiar with LSP, but from what I understand, it allows you to import sequences from LOR. Does it also allow you to export them back to LOR after working with them in LSP or must you run them using LSP?

Dummy me. I should have indicated a dummy guide to DMX and LOR (using RGB lights). I get the programming bit but and fuzzy on the hardware requirments and interaction.
