USCS31 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 hello. i just purchased 2 16 channel beginners units with the bells and whisltles. i will be setting up the two units inside my garage which has a sub box (electrical) from the main inside the house. the sub box i believe was put in the garage because the previous owner was a wood worker and had many electrical saws and tools that he used inside there. if i'm not mistaken, the units need 30 amps for each plug? i'm not too sure about this part......i guess it wouldn't hurt to have 4 outlets and each outlet have their own breaker? if there's no problem with doing that what gauge wire should i use for the 30 amp breakers to the outlets? any help would be great! thank you! i hope i posted this in the right spot!
DownTown Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 In the most likely scenario, you have controllers that will require up to two 15 amp circuits each (not two 30 amp). How much of a load you will run on them will determine how much power you actually need to run to them. Typically, you'd need 14 gauge for a 15 amp circuit.Hope that helps.D.T.
USCS31 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 ohhhh! lol...i was confused for a second with the amps. thanks for the heads up and i will try using the 14 gauge. thank you for your help!
