Guest Don Gillespie Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Well its raining today so I had a great day to finish my christmas light inventory, with out any arches built as of yet I have discovered I am going to need a 181 channels haven't told my wife yet I don't think she needs to know that there is going to be another LOR purchase in the summer she will be ok with this as she has already told me what she wants to see in the display this year, as for setting everything up you know I will not find her anywhere around the yard when the time comes for that. That being said does any one have any ideas on how to get the lights back inside the candy canes, when removing them from the frozen earth in January some of the lights pulled out and with my big fingers I can not seem to jam them back in the candy cane, they seem to go really well untill I reach the bend in the cane, and thats when everything bunches up, I will wait for replys
Steve Saunders Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I can not seem to jam them back in the candy cane, they seem to go really well untill I reach the bend in the cane, and thats when everything bunches up,Try using a small nut tied to a string, drop the nut in and let it feed all the way through. Then use the string tied to the lights to pull them through the cane. This worked fairly well on the ones that I made.-Steve
JBullard Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I have 2 sets of lights installed into each of my wally-world candy canes.Red and clear in the red ones, and green and clear in the green ones.I remove the cap at the top, and then as Steve suggested, the nut on the string allowed me to pull both strings through the canes.
Guest Don Gillespie Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Thanks I will give this a try I am sure it will work
jerrymac Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I used a couple of metal coat hangers as a snake (one wasn't long enough). straighten out the coat hanger and slip through the candy cane. tape the light string to the end and pull back through.
NWSanta Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Can you put a vacuum on one end? If so put the vacuum on one end and fish some Floss through there. Then Tie the Floss to the lights and pull the floss from the end that got sucked through by the Vacuum.Hopefully that helps...-Evan
