rugerx
Hey all, just curious has anyone done any light shows around their swimming pool?We finally decided to have one built and the pool comes with two lights that are programmable LED's with 1500 colors...Well... the OCD's kicked in and I started planning the outdoor sound system and then then it occurred to me, hey this backyard needs some LOR too!I am going to start out with 16 or 32 channels in the trees and flowerbeds and then the patio area.Anyone else done this? I have this mad vision of something like the music from the bellagio and lights swaying, or even the beach boys and a surf motif. Thanks for any feed back. Ponddude
I have never done it, but it has always been a dream of mine to have my landscape lighting all LOR controlled. I would use my Rainbow floods and some DMX lighting. It would all be low voltage and use the DC board. I would also do some sort of water display...very simple display...in the flower beds. Could be really fun and look good!
Aproct
Actually I am in the process of completing this thought through my three large gardens and around my in ground pool. I am etching the pcb and been doing a good bit of soldering. I have 6 well lights that I constructed, 2 per tree that change three different colors, 9 mr-16s that change three different colors. I am using 2 16 channel DC boards that will be mounted out by my pool filter. I am running soild core sprinkler wire, since it is already in a weather resistant coating, buried underground and will connect to each light via molex connectors. rugerx
The DC approach is interesting. I was considering using led flood lights and rope lights to achieve an nice effect that could be soothing fading up and down to music like classical, or a lights flashing jam session depending on the music choice.Does anyone here know how LED floods might behave with a LOR controller turning them on and off and fading on and off etc? cenote
rugerx wrote: Does anyone here know how LED floods might behave with a LOR controller turning them on and off and fading on and off etcThe DC-LOR controllers do exactly the same with LEDs as the AC boards do with 120v string lights. Total control, with no problems. The only catch, is if you are into constructing your own LED's, you need to make sure you find the sweet spot of each light, meaning the correct forward current for each light. When your voltage varies just a little, the dimming affects are effected.Oh, and if you are asking about the 120v LED floods, they too are fully controllable too with no problems. I know of a few people who used them, with no bad results.
Ponddude
Not to toot my own horn but the Rainbow Floods I was talking about you can get from me here...http://www.christmasonmanor.com/store/product.php?id_product=14There are pictures and videos of the lights in action here...http://www.christmasonmanor.com/rainbowfloodlight/rfl.htmThe boards should be shipping out to me in 2 weeks and than they will be shipping out to everyone that ordered following that. They are EXTREMELY bright and function very well with the CMB-16D or if you want to go the DMX route you can get the Rainbow Brain as well. I am trying to come up with ways to use them throughout the season in my landscaping as well.
