  1. I have Two (2) sets of CCR Controllers and Power Adapters for sale (Does NOT include the CCR Ribbon). Each set is $50 (plus postage), These have been used very sparingly for the last three (3) seasons. All were tested and worked right before this posting. I also have Two (2) sets of LOR NEMA-5-15R-18-8 Dongles, each consisting of Sixteen (16) pigtails and One (1) Power Cord. http://store.lightorama.com/rewigr18.html Each Set is $15 (plus Postage). PM me if interested or post if you have any questions.
  2. Hello I have an old Christmas light show system called the Gemmy Light Show and I wanted to try to connect it to my existing LOR controller using a cat5 cable. The Gemmy has 6 channels however it had 10 preprogramed songs and doesn't connect to a computer. I wanted to crack it open and try to get it to be controlled off of a Cat5 cable so that I can plug it into my existing controller. I'm 14 years old and have no idea how to do this kind of stuff, all I know are the locations of some to the main computer chips on the control board. Please tell me if you have any ideas or experience on this to
  3. Built a new computer for my show. Solid state drive for quick start up and a 2nd drive to hold all my files. I decided to go with 3 monitors to help in sequencing and playback. I use the left for the visualizer, middle for sequencing, and the right for videos which is also connected to a projector. So far it's been working great. Anybody doing something similar or have a better setup? I like to see what you guys are using to make sequencing faster and easier.
  4. Hi, I'm a newbie this year looking at buying LED rope light to try LOR this Christmas season. I had a couple of questions about Sequencing Software + LED rope lights that may help in deciding (a) whether I buy rope lights or incandescent and ( what effects I use in the software. Dimmable LED? If I buy this kind, does this mean I can use the fade effect? I intend to also use the twinkle and shimmer effects with LED rope light. Will this be possible? Hanging LED onto a GUTTER. How should I go about this? I saw other posts advising velcro, some saying zip ties with a screw insert, others tel
  5. I had an idea to cut up a CCR and use the pixels in different areas of my display that have some distance between them. e.g. I have many pumpkins with a single light bulb inside that I now light with a 16 channel controller. (16 pumpkins max and only one color.) I thought that maybe I could cut up a CCR and put a pixel in each pumpkin for not much more money than a 16 channel controller. (Up to 50 pumpkins and in any color!) The problem I imagine would be with the distances between the segments. But I am sure I am not the first to think of this, so can you please share any other pr
  6. In terms of brightness of led pixels, is there any differences when using 5v vs 12v. Are the 12v led pixels brighter?
  7. I currently use LOR controllers for my Halloween and Christmas displays but this year I am adding a few objects that will be independent of the main display. The task at hand is illuminating the object using motion sensors and having it illuminate in 3 timed segments both forward and then after a dwell time of about 5seconds reverse the illumination to off again. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach the electrical side of this. I think I have the construction part solved just falling short on a simple solution for the electrical side.
  8. The RGB ribbon lights on my building are up year around. Normally set to 50% blue most evenings, but since it's Memorial day I added a little action with Red, White and Blue. http://lightshow.franktronics.net/index.php/memorial-day-2014-night-at-franktronics/
  9. This is my 3rd year to use Light-O-Rama products in my home Christmas display. I have received so much help from this forum, I thought I'd attempt to pay back and post my most recent adventure building a controller box for the CMB 24 controller I purchased at the Mad Grab sale. I bought the package that has the 8 dumb RGB strips. I want to add the RGB floods next year. I've attached pictures to show what I did. I went to Home Depot and bought a big plastic box in the electrical section. The Power supply I purchased from Light-O-Rama is the biggest piece and is 9" long, so I bought a 10"
  10. I purchased a set of 50 C7 DC5V 5050 SMD WS2811 LED Technicolor Pixels from Ali Express and they did not come with the input wires marked. Does anybody know how to identify the order of the positive, negative and data wires. See attached web page for more information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Technicolor Wiring.txt
  11. I've had several folks ask how I built my 8 ft. starburst from 2013. I put together a quick how-to for an element I'm in process of building this year. This one is a Pixel Marty Fan, but the build concept is virtually the same, Just a half circle instead of a complete circle. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fel0narom0tlvp1/Pixel%20Fan%20Build.pdf Here is a smaller burst I have already built for 2014. Sorry, I didn't get any pics for this build. With the above how-to, the burst should be easily accomplished. https://vimeo.com/84608204
  12. I'm using the Holiday Coro Actidongle to run a 27 channel controller and three 3 channel controllers also from Holiday Coro using the S3 software. My question is: has anyone tried running any DMX stage type lights with this setup? I am looking at a couple of RGB DMX lights as well as a DMX UV light that I found for fairly cheap. I assume that I could just run a DMX 3-pin cable from the 27 channel controller to the first DMX light, set the address accordingly and sequence in LOR as regular channels set to DMX. Everything I'm using right now is set to RGB channels because that's all I'm u
  13. HI Gang, SO here is a new one for me, I have 5 real Trees (blue Spruce- Pic ENC) and I would like to put Faces onto them without hurting the tree. Just eyes and mouth at the minimum. Anyone have a thought how to do that? thanks Kip Pic @ https://picasaweb.google.com/kiplorenzo/May112013#5876724874295092610
  14. Hello. I live in the UK. We have 220-230 volt AC outlets, and because of this, the majority of lights (LED lights) available use transformers to take the currant to about 12-36 volts. From what I have read, the transformers would turn on and off, but not fade, shimmer or twinkle. I would like to know if this is true or if there is an alternative to transformers. Also, I have some rope lights and other lights with what looks like, no transformer. I'm not sure if they have a transformer hidden away in the controller box. And one other thing, I know I can switch the board to 230V, but will need
  15. I put together a CMB24D controller for 6 RGB flood lights. 3 floods are the Holiday Coro kit, 2 are Light O Rama 10 watt floods, 1 is a 10 watt flood I picked up on Amazon for $15.00 then hacked it. All the floods work great except they're not bright enough as I have a street light across from me. Has anyone tried RGB 20 or 30 watts floods? Are they 12v or 24v? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nmm872blpwz6zbc/QpWlqlelPU
  16. HI i was just wondering what to do i have two mega trees and there about 15 ft tall and i live in Wisconsin and we got about 2.5ft of snow total so my mega trees are only 12.5 ft tall because the lights are staked into the ground. any ideas what to do?
  17. I would like to create a 24x50 matrix using superstar. However I'm not using CCR's, I am using generic WS2811 strips (50 pixels long) I was able to successfully create a quick visualization of the matrix, however it's based on CCRs. So when I export it into the sequencer, I would have to have 24 CCRs and then copy the data over the DMX channels that they really exist on. Is there anyway I can avoid this additional step? Also is there anyway to get around the 1024 fixture limitation on the visualizer in S3? I tried to make a 24x50 matrix and got stuck after 20 of the strips were comple
  18. We will be meeting at the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority Headquarter building located at 9195 East Mineral Avenue in Centennial, CO 80112 starting at 0900. This is just north of Park Meadows mall off of I-25 and County Line Road. Lower level at the west end of the hallway. We have plenty of room, full kitchen if needed, video screen with computer hookups. Come one, come all. Brian
  19. We had an abnormally warm winter and it baked all of my duct tape. When I run a wire across a sidewalk I tape it down to reduce trip hazards, well this year it left a mess and I was wondering how some of you clean it up. I have used a pressure washer in the past but it was still pretty hard and a lot of work. Does any one have any suggestions???
  20. Hello everyone.... A while back I had posted a problem with a controller I was having (3 channels on unit 01 (all on the 1-8 side)) "Spazz out" and blink, sometimes it's #3, sometimes it's 3,6, and sometimes it's 8 & 3, whatever, it's ONLY 3, 6, and 8 that do it and ONLY the one controller.... OK, So here's the thing, these 4 controllers are over 400 feet from my house (Out front), AND 400 feet in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION, we have a fencer... yup ! click......... click........... click............ click, ALL 4 controllers are on one outlet (15 amp), and the fencer is on another o
  21. I was grinding some gears and wondering. 1) can you use cat6? 2) when you go to make it, does the LOR boxes need all 8 wires? 3) If not which ones? 4) Can I wire in device ends with out interference (data noise) for example head set ends, usb etc..
  22. When it comes to wiring the positive and negative for a single channel, can you only use the positive associated with the 3 channels next to it only or can you use that 1 positive connection for say 5 negative connections? If so what is the maximum amperage for one of those positive terminals if it's 4A per channel maximum?
  23. Hi all, we are going to be having a very big NYE show .. Fog machines, strobes, intimidators etcetera. I was wondering if anyone had any Rock, Techno, NYE related or any type of sequences that aren't Christmas .. That they would be willing to share with me? This would be greatly appreciated. My email is superman_74@me.com
  24. Hi all, I am new to all this stuff and really want to give my Christmas house something special next year. I have seen the "Spiral Trees" and really like them. I want to start with 1 tree about 6 to 8 foot tall. I would rather not use a computer (at first) so, my question is this: If I buy one of the Showtime centrals and one of the Residential light controllers...... Will that be enough to make my little tree dance? ANY other suggestions would be great!!!! Thank you in advance for your help! Jeremy
  25. I had an idea to add what I call an exploding star to my display this year using RGB Pixels, it took me a few tries before I finalized the design. I ended up using 1/8th inch by 1/2 inch hot rolled steel to form the stars. Welded the pieces together, then attached 166 2801 pixels using 3 cable ties per pixel. The video below was taken in my shop, the pixels are BRIGHT and washed out the camera. http://youtu.be/Q00fdMms7qE I have it out in my display, I need to build another one to balance out the display.
