  2. Pittsburgh PA light-up for April 22 is canceled. Due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be holding the event. A new meet-up date/time/location has not yet been established. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  4. George I have 3 monitors, all in-service. That was my initial thought as well. I have tried running only one monitor and there is still no luck. It is the same setup I have used for about 6 months and it seemed to work fine previously.
  5. I'll do my best to explain what is happening. When opening the SE, a dialog box usually opens that says "open new sequence" or "create new musical sequence". Instead of this dialog box showing up, the SE opens and that display is not available. However, the SE acts like the box is open and will not allow me to access any part of the SE. When I open any sequence by clicking on the .lmx file, the sequence opens and runs as normal. However, I want to create a NEW sequence. So, I click on the "NEW SEQUENCE" icon and once again the SE goes through the motion of opening that dialog box. But
  6. I've decided to cancel the meet up. My mom had a heart attack this afternoon and is in the hospital. With the impending snow storm I'm concerned as well. I will be rescheduling the meet-up.
  7. Great to hear! Just a reminder that we are 10 days away. Anyone else joining?

Plenty of experience will be here from static displays, LOR L
  9. Anyone order a replacement mosfet for the CMB24DC? I have a 2 year old controller that needs a replacement. Anyone have a Mouser part number? Thank you! Clyde
  10. A huge thanks to everyone for coming out to the first Pittsburgh, PA meet-up group. We had around 20 people represent all parts of eastern PA, NJ, OH, and a bunch of western PA locals. Folks from both the Facebook groups and the DIY Christmas, Planet Christmas, and Light O Rama forums were here to talk shop and share ideas too! So much experience between the group, the conversations started when we walked in, and lasted till I left to go home at 8:30 pm! The day was a huge success for the Pittsburgh area. Awesome! We are looking to schedule another meet-up at the end of January, around t
  11. That's how I made mine years ago. Then upgraded to RGB last year. Used old c9 bulbs before that. Looks great!
  12. Yes, Just as Don said. But if you plan on using your LOR controller in DMX mode then you must update the firmware to v4.2 or higher on the v1 and v2 boards
  13. I am upgrading my pixel tree this year to a 32x50. Last year it was 20x50. I don't run pictures on it yet. I did use one sequence with a line of text (show opener). Same comments as Ron Boyd above. Viewers doubled in 2 years and they love the tree. More pixels this year for me. But maybe more AC channels too? Its all in what you like, what you can do, and what is in your skillset. Displays are different and unique for a reason.
  14. Kevin... I have those too. I call them spinners. Used them for 5 years in my display. Love them. Mine have 8 legs.
  15. I've posted this in a bunch of Facebook a groups. I don't hover in the forums here much during the off-season, but I'd like to send an invitation out to everyone who is interested in getting together for a meet-up. Pittsburgh PA Light-up group Saturday, September 26 Kings Family Restaurant in Harmar PA. Address is: 5 Alpha Dr E Pittsburgh, PA 15238 It is located just off the exit ramp from the PA Turnpike (AKA I76) Everyone near and far is welcome to attend. At this time there are roughly 15 people slated, the room can handle many more. I expect to meet for breakfast, say around 8:30am
  16. I just pulled into St Louis. I left this morning after posting up this question. Thank you Jim, I appreciate the test. I'll be home tomorrow night and can test it out myself on Tuesday. I have a feeling I'll be ordering a red dongle since I wanted a spare to keep in the shop for testing. I'm a bit confused about how DevMike explained it to us at the Expo. He said that Gen 3 controllers would not run on the old RS485. I KNOW he said the Gen 1&2 Will not work on the enhanced protocol. My setup is simple. I have two 16PC V2 and 5 CMB24DC's to run and want to make sure the old pro
  17. I drove over 1200 miles down to Texas just for the expo. Gotta say it was worth it. Only 3 hour drive? YOU ARE LUCKY
  18. Totally agree. John brings up a good point. At this time the LOR software does a great job at tapping out and finding beets. But there are many enhancements available when using Audacity and their plugins. We all spend a ton of time marking out timings in LOR, and it seems this could be an easy addition when creating a new sequence.
  19. Leaving the Expo yesterday, I realized I had a question about setup. I understand the enhanced LOR protocol in S4 requires the "red" (high speed) RS 485 dongle, and controllers on that dongle need to be Gen 3 boards. My question is that if I currently use the Gen 1 or 2 controller along with my current "black" RS 485 dongle, will my CMB24DC continue to work on the non-enhanced LOR protocol? At the show, I learned that the Gen 1&2 controllers had to be on a separate network from the Gen 3. But, does that mean that Gen 3 won't work on the original non-enhanced LOR protocol? Thanks aga
  20. I made my own mix using my favorite song segments. I used Audacity to select the sections of each song, then mixed them in one master file. This took me forever to create the song, and sequencing too roughly 100 hours. I wish I had started earlier in the year. This was a last-minute project I started in November 2011. One of the things I'll do different (if I decided to do another) is not use so many song, say 5 minutes max.
  21. Today was the day for testing and setting up the RGB tree line. Was trying to hook up the new CMD24D that I got during the summer sale. Read the manual and learned that these units require the dipswitch to set the unit ID number. Well, they come pre-shipped as unit 01. Plugged into the RS485 and searched using the LOR Hardware Utility. Nice, found it right away. But when I go to change the unit number and REFRESH the hardware utility, the unit number stay's the same. It does not change from 01. Hate to say that I miss the old "select and set" method for the PC16 units. So is the unit
  22. Thanks for asking this question Greg. Was going to run a small setup in the back yard and wanted a cheep RS-485 connector and found the parts to make it on Monoprice. I don't have a stand alone unit and I do have an extra computer with the S2 software loaded. Soooo, using this home-made assembled RS-485 should work for 2 controllers (max 3) at a distance of no more then 20' right? Was considering a new one during the summer sale but the shipping cost added to the sale price of the cheep RS-485 dongle is 15.00 to ship from NY to PA. I can make one for the cost of shipping.
  23. Found the problem. Seems that even though the channels were wide enough for the length of the channel lables, the HEIGHT of the channel was causing the trouble. After resizing the height, the labels returned! Thanks guys.
  24. So I'm opening up my sequences from the past 5 years and they load and play just fine. However, the labels are missing. When I go into the sequence editor: Tools--> Channel Config all of the channel labels are listed. I can edit them too. But when I view the main sequencing screen, no channel labels? What's going on with this? I've looked at all types of visual settings and can't find anything to fix it.
