  1. We love going to Florida. Great beaches. My wife and I just talked about retiring down there. Though I need to work another decade or two before the kids are moved out and I have saved enough not to have to work. (Which may be never).
  2. As a Midwest Christmas light enthusiast, I became increasingly jealous of you fair weather Christmas light show folks. I spent a lot of my time just weather-proofing all my displays (below freezing temps, strong wind, hail, rain, sleet, snow storms...) And enduring the below zero temps in January taking down my display. This year, we were solid ice until March. Everything was stuck. I watch The Great Christmas Light fight, and see massive displays built in warm weather. Anyway, yes, I am selling all these artifacts at way below used prices, because it's such a niche market, but I want them to go to a go home. And maybe someone can find value in them. I told my wife, if it doesn't sell, maybe someone will pick it up for scrap metal (the wire frames) at trash time.

  4. Do you mean remote control? How could I synchronize the remote control with an lor sequence?
  5. Proprietary protocol over IP. It is not simple on/off nor variable levels. It's more like command messages to the device. 1 channel per device. So a channel would be a series of message commands to the device. But I'd like to play it in time with respect to the other lor and rgb channels.
  6. In S4 I would use Pixel Editor to control my RGBs and shove the output channel/sequence into the sequence editor which controlled the AC lights on/off , and the software would merge those together into one playable sequence. I want to be able to sequence another device/channel (non-LOR, non-RGB) and be able to merge that into an existing playable sequence. Basically how RGBs were before S5.....how can I merge a new technology into S5? Or is it purely a closed system? thanks- Jeff

  14. I've tried several times to start a new project in S5, and each time causes me to stop. Since most of my display is just on/off channels, with a few RGB props, it seems S5 assumes people are mostly RGB. I'm not sure what S5 wants, groups, channels, views, visualization files,...confusing.. Have others tried to go to S5 and feel just as overwhelmed? Should I stick with S4, and just bounce over to pixel editor for the few RGB channels I have. Just when I started to figure out how S4 (groups / channels) worked, S5 seems to change what it wants. Jeff
  15. Thanks Matt. Does that mean i would need to convert the S4 files before i could play on an S5 show computer? Even if i didn't need to edit the sequence? Thanks, Jeff
  16. Will S5 be backward compatible with S4 sequences? Will S5 be able to play S4 sequences okay? Thanks- Jeff
  17. Thank you !! That wasn't very intuitive for me. I just started to understand S4 config channels, S5 seems to add a few more layers.
  18. I've loaded version 5.0.14, and don't see "Channel Summary" in the Preview Design. What am I missing? Jeff
  19. I have a sequence which had a channel config loaded. I wanted to try another channel config. I assumed (incorrectly) that the existing channel config would be cleared, while the new channel config would be loaded. But apparently it doesn't do that, now I have I mashup of a channel config. Is there a way to clear an existing channel config, and reimport a new channel config into my existing sequence? Thanks- Jeff
  20. What is the back story of Light O Rama? How did they start? How did they grow? How did they come up with the name LightORama? What is the history of LightORama? Any insider want to compose a history of where you came from? I'd be interested! Thanks- Jeff
  21. I was able to buy and receive today (on Sunday, Amazon is amazing) a CAT 5 cable tester. Thanks for the suggestion! I was able to verify that what I thought were bad cables (sorry LOR), were in fact good. It does seem that my RJ45 connector is probably the culprit. Like was said before, I probably need to protect the jack from unwanted forces due to the cable. Thanks for the input !!!
  22. I have a sequence that I want to take out the first 1 or 2 minutes. What is the easiest way to do that? I can shorten the back end, by reducing the total time of the sequence, but don't know of a good way to cut out a section from the front (and shift the remaining to the left). thanks- Jeff
  23. So I assume that LOR network cable is not special (ie doesn't have different pin-outs) than regular CAT-5 cable you would use for Ethernet!?! Somehow, when I first started this, I thought I needed to buy network cable from LOR (and kept doing that). I think I will get a cat 5 tester, seems I'm doing more cabling these days with LOR and just home network in general. Probably a good tool to have on hand. I do think that our severe cold weather plays a part in my frequent faults (either cable issue or connector issue). I envy you fair weather folks. Although I give extra credit to those folks who have to put on a show in sub-freezing weather!! :-) Jeff
