  1. We still have a few more elements to add tomorrow, but my husband couldn't wait (didn't believe that it was going to work that well I think) and by golly, it's AWESOME! It's our first year, just 32 channels, but I'm in LUV- we have six songs split with audio clips from A Christmas Story and literally in the first 10min we had it on we had people stopping in front of our house watching it while WE watched it. (in the past we had one of those 'Lights and Sounds of Christmas' boxes so people in the 'hood knew we had good lights but this of course blows that one OUT of the water) So happy!

  3. The following is just a joke seeing how mega arch already took all of the good answers. Get a Q-tip and put some bubble gum on the one end and then stick that to the end of the fuse. Na, better yet put bubble gum on the end of a lolly pop stick. I am afraid that the cotton might come off of the end of the Q-tip and leave the gum and cotton on the fuse in the fuse holder. AGAIN JUST JOKING.. Do not try this at home.

  6. I feel like a goof. This was on a CMB-24D. I just went to check on it a few minutes ago (the sun is shining so I can see.) A stupid lizard is in the box. His little claw must have flipped one of the switches as he was moving around. Fixed, no more lizard.

  7. This is my first display with LOR (I've done semi-static ones for years) and I've spent all year planning it. Last night it was all worth it when one of my neighbors (who I have never met before) rang my doorbell to tell me how much she, and the rest of the neighborhood, loved the display and how much it meant to her. She was so sweet and kind it really warmed my heart to see that doing this thing we all love so much had brought her this much joy as well.

  8. Or solder in fused plugs that you cut off dead strings of lights. Never discard lights with out cutting off the plugs. Tons of DIY projects can be done with them

  10. The plugs shouldn't be that finicky, just make sure the wire is pushed flat into the connector before adding the backing plate, you can then kind of bend the wire to the bottom of the plug and pull. I have had about 4 faulty ones out of about 300 They don't fit into different types of strings so I always use my bench top grinder to grind down a little of the wide end. I hold it with a pair of pliers and grind a little off both sides and it usually slides right in, Take a look at the video below, its pretty detailed As far as popping the GFI, are you using a kill o watt meter to see the amp

  11. The 20' aluminum poles I got were about $15 each. The ones with the holes is over twice the costs. (I guess for punching all the holes in it.) I also caculated that it would have only saved me about 15lbs overall. So the tree would have been 90lbs instead of the 105lbs it ended up being. I went with the cheaper tubing, I think it's stronger too. Frank

  12. I didn't use any metal wire, I used 3/4" square aluminum tubing, bolted together. The CCR's are attached to the tubing using wire-ties at every pixel cut-point (hundreds of them). The pixels DO NOT MOVE. When I disassembled the frame I wrapped each vertical section in bubblewrap and then stacked them in the garage on hooks above the door. Didn't take up much space and I don't have to take the CCR's off the tubing. Here is a picture of the Frame before the CCR's were applied. http://lightshow.franktronics.net/wp-content/gallery/christmas-2012/100_0940.jpg Here is a picture of one of the tubes
