  3. Hi everyone! I have been lurking in the LOR Forums for about 2 years now and am ready to take the leap into animation. I'll try not to jump around too much in my story. Christmas was always important growing up. Most of my favorite memories of my family are from Christmas. So when I joined the Army, it was the time of year I was most homesick. My mom would go out of her way when I was not able to come home to "send" me Christmas. I would get a box with a mini-tree and lights, presents, Christmas pajamas...the works. 5. It actually depends on the song used Jim. I use 0.05 timing grid and have many different songs for my Halloween display, and they all do not look alike. Like others I try and follow the waveform as best I can, and each song being different, so you shouldn't really have any sequences that look identical, although some may come close in some aspects, or part of a song, but I don't have a problem with small portions of one song looking like another. But none are identical to each other when I'm using the 0.05 timings.

So I don't use the on-board ones and solder wires directly to the board, keeping the jacks external to the enclosure (you'll have to shield them from weather - I use a small plastic bag with a drip loop and it works fine for several years now) Here's a picture of one of my Rainbows, to show you what I mean: And here's one of my v-Floods, which uses a similar setup:

  7. Since I'm doing DMX this year, I decided to take the Rainbow Floods I bought last year and build waterproof DMX floodlights. My case is a 250W Halogen work light from Home Depot at about $9: Insides are removed, leaving plenty of room for the Rainbow Flood and one of those $8 RGB controllers from HolidayCoro: Some plastic inserts, screws, and hot glue hold the Rainbow Flood board in place: The connections are made in the waterproof connection box in the back. Since this unit will be the last of the chain, it has a 120Ω resistor on the DMX lines. I had to wrap the waterproof 4-pin conn
