emcee
I am considering a couple of"Mega"Arches to span my drive. Perhaps 40-50 feet of arch. I think the CCR is a great option to allow multi color on such a large structure. I would need three ribbons to span each arch (at least 2.5). However, programming with multiple controllers and macros looks like it would be a nightmare. If I could link the ribbons together on one controller, even with a loss of resolution, I would have major flexibility with the arches, much more than with minis.Anybody contemplating such a project? Is LOR moving toward putting end connectors and selling ribbons without controllers?I remember reading that the design controller limit was ~20 ribbons on a controller. I also know that cutting a ribbon voids its warranty.Dan, any intent to supply ribbons with end connectors? What do you guys think? This will be my second year with LOR and I want to come up with a big addition to my previous display.Mike
jimswinder
Probably a little off topic..but I was thinking of making a colored arch out of C9 bulbs (3 or 4 bulbs of each color (RGBW) in each segment). But it would have been a channel hog...for a 7 segment arch it would be 28 channels, and I was wanting 4 arches so 112 channels total.Still might do it... melwelch
I think the software they are working on is going to solve a lot of the programming issues....The 3 CCRs for one arch is not that hard if you get away from the macros... The new software may make the macros a better choice later....Boy a 150 channel arch 50 ft wide.... How cool.... My only question I have is it too big and not that big of a bang for the money... I have seen a few arches that uses the whole CCR... Because of what I saw I am going with 2 arches from one CCR... But one thing I think will look cool with your mega arch is the ability to have multiple streams of light and each a different colors interacting with each other.. Could be exciting...Example a blue stream of lights moving slowly across the arch... Followed at the same time by red burst of red shooting across passing thru the Blue turning it purple as it does it... Cool
ItsMeBobO
The Macros are not hard to use. I did a bunch of songs entirely with macros and had great success. It was much easier to use them for sweeps and chases then manually. They did stay in time with the beats with absolutely no problem. Planned software upgrades will make them even easier I am sure.If anyone wants an example of how to use the macros you are welcome to inquire.http://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO2009ReflectionsOfEarth.wmvhttp://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO2009BondExplosive.wmvhttp://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO2009DuelingJingleBells.wmvhttp://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO20092001Nutrocker.wmvhttp://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO2009WizardsInWinter.wmv

melwelch
Excellant job....My whole problem with macros is that the hardware had out paced the software... The new software sounds like it will have the tools to make macros the simple solution to a more and more complex sequences... I would say we all have not seen not'en yet.... I will bet you we will one day see macros that will assist in making sequences so complex the only way to do it is with a macro...Last Christmas was not a macro one for me..... But 2010 should be a year for some beautiful displays from our community.... We have a lot of very talented people sharing ideas....

Must have taken a lot of channels to do this - very impressive!
ItsMeBobO
Hi Val Welcome to the LOR forums. I see its your first post. I am honored by your compliment and question. There are 11 fountains using a total of 30 channels. Half are mirrored to a sister on the opposite side. There are 53 strings of 50 lights wrapped around 2 inch pvc.
