colonel
I am putting one away in the basement bent as an arch but relaxed a bit. The other one arches over my computer desk so I can see it while programming next year's show.
eldoradoboy
these things ROCK!!! I got order me a few of these for 2010...I was planning on rewrapping my arches in 3 colors of LED lights..however at 8 sections per arch and that manby lights and cords.. and more PC controllers for the added channels (my current arches are 1 color) it probably cost me less to go to a CCR and have a LOT more flexibility with it...there is a LOT of POP for 250 a Pop!!!esp since they cost less at summer sale...do the macros allow you to do much with them or is it best to just sequence each one out separately as if it were a regular controller?-Christopher
stanward
Thank you for the videos everyone! The CCRs are beautiful and nothing else compares to them.Price is a little bit too much for me to afford, maybe in a few years!
steve synek
I can't say enough good things about my CCR's. They are super bright. They dominate my display. I only wish I had more time to figure out the programing. I did not use any macro effects. I made two arches out of each ribbon. Like a lot of others, the video does not capture the true effect of any of my display.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAGwKrGudNw&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsB3Qa5VqsM

ItsMeBobO
Finally have a video of various CCR effects. The light is just too intense for the camera and overwhelms it. Its hard to see the colors which are MUCH more appealing in person. This video has two sequence snaps in it so you can see the values used.http://itsmebob.com/Christmas/2009/BobO2009CCRsampler.wmv
Robbo
price wise they are a cheap arch, considering it's $249 for 2 arches the way Steve has set them up, compared to buying pvc pipe, and 8 sets of 1 colour just for 1 colour arch in 8 segments add another 8 sets for 2nd colour and it gets pricey not to mention all the channels they use up on a LOR board 16 channels for just 1 of a 2 colour 8 segment arch, the ribbons however provide infinite colours and come with their own control box no channels lost on the LOR board I'm going to order 4 for my arches, before i saw these ribbons i was only going to do 2 arches with 1 colour for the same price, now i can have infinite colours and 8 arches even with the exchange rate and shipping to Australia
eldoradoboy
I agree on the price being great for what you get.. in fact for smaller arches you could conceivable use 1 ribbon for 2 arches...I figured in cords, lights, pipe, paint I have about 50-60 bucks in my single color arches..so $120 per 2 arches, plus a $200 controller.... and thats SINGLE color....get the CCR on sale and it isnt so expensive after a while..-Christopher
Victory402
Not to mention, the CCR is very energy efficient. I bet it will cost you about a buck a month in electric to run it, compared to 5,000 million watts using multi colored minis for arches that make my neighbors lights flicker. go figure... I was very careful not to stress the ribbon at the point where the 2 arches meet. I attached the ribbon to 1/2" x 10 ft pvc electrical conduit painted green. The arches are about 8ft long each. The one foot off the ground works out well here due to the snow we get. I programmed each arch as 25 separate channels of RGB. You can see the ribbon from both sides of the arch.Steve Attached files
eldoradoboy
looks good... what do you plan to do to take ir down remove the ribbon from the arches? I was thinking if I used CCR for 2 that id have an issue getting them put away without stressing the ribbon-Christopherwow green grass - we havent seen that for a while here in ohio! steve synek
Your right, the green grass has long been covered. The picture was taken the week before Thanksgiving. I will have to remove the ribbon from the conduit in order to store them and in order to remove the conduit from the rebar stakes. At a minimum if you were to install them this way, you would have to remove the ribbon from at least one arch so the ribbon is not damaged during handling and storage.Steveeldoradoboy wrote: looks good... what do you plan to do to take ir down remove the ribbon from the arches? eldoradoboy
I guess the only other way would be to cut the ribbon and then make a connection system for it so you could have it on 2 arches... I always try to make things that are modular in nature for take down... as in my experience here in columbus the weather is a LOT more brutal at tear down time than it is at install time... this season a perfectr example.. 70 degrees in november.. its 14 here in the DAYTIME today.how did the ribbon weather? has the plastic casing and wiring and all held up well?-Christopher
