No Shimmer on Test

On a Showtime G3 controller testing with Hardware Utility, I’m not getting a shimmer. With the shimmer setting I get a steady on. 
 

So, is the shimmer generated in the controller or the utility?  Also, any ideas on how to resolve?  I have already tried the up down arrow reset.

Shimmer is generated by the controller in LOR mode. In DMX mode it's created by the software. I just checked a CMB 24 in HU and it does shimmer. Can't say about an AC box but I would think it should work. Again in LOR mode.

See if it works from a sequence.

If it works from a sequence I wouldn't worry about it

Brad, what are you trying to control?  Some things don't take well to shimmer.

a G3  has a On/Off  Dimming curve  (Setting Option in HU) to help save things that don't take well to dimming. Help, not guaranteed to always SAVE. K6CCC make a great point. Most electronic (regulated) supplies are going to have issues with any rapid power change. The feature work well with most standard light strings (simple rectifier-resistor)
