preview different from what lights are doing

When selecting the scanner motion effect my preview displays lights scanning in one direction but the actual lights are scanning the opposite direction. I have three roof lines in a group but it doesn't seem to matter if I attach the effect to the group or to just an individual roof line it still moves in the opposite direction. Any ideas what to check?

Larry,

Check each prop (roof lines), see if the starting pixels is designated correctly. See below. Test as needed.

also I believe if you look at the preview prop there is a blue square which indicates where the beginning of the string is

Actually, this makes more sense to start with.

Thanks guys, had it backwards in the preview (blue square in on the wrong side) just like you said. I new about this but failed to notice and have written this years Christmas show without noticing until I hooked up test lights. If it wasn't for the help on this forum I think it would be time for and old guy like me to give this hobby up.
