S5 and RGB arches

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have had S2 and the same display since 2008. This year I decided it was time to add something. I bought the S5 pro, 2 CCR superstar and 2 arch package from holiday coro. Wow, what a change.

I created a preview for my house, including the two new arches. I am not good at sequencing, so my intent is two import my current songs and use the instant sequence to add the arches. I created a group with the two arches in it, but when I open the superstar, it only shows one arch. So of course when I run the instant sequence, it only does one arch.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Zach

Is this so blatantly obvious that you guys are telling me that I am an idiot or did I ask in the wrong area?

Wow!  Going from S2 to S5 in one jump is HUGE!  A LOT has changed.

Most likely when you are selecting a row for the Motion Effects, you are selecting one arch rather than the group.

Zach,

I'll pm you my email. If you want create an animation, no need to put any effects or music in it. Name it sample. Find it in your Sequence Folder and email it to me. I'll take a look at it. We could go back and forth, but I just find it easier to see it for myself. If need be I do a video about what needed/needs to happen so you will understand how props are meant to be setup for in SS/groups etc...

By sending an animation, I can load into my S5 and see all your props, channel layout, groups etc... It a easy way to get a second set of eyes on it.

Thank you both for the responses.

@Alan........I sent you the requested sample. Interestingly enough, it seems to work in the sample. Arches move way to fast, but surely that can be adjusted. The Wizards in winter that I imported from my old S2 only shows one arch in superstar. I am sure I somehow messed up one of the Motion effect rows.

Zach,

As you said in your email. The Sample.loredit file worked fine. The WIW Test.loredit file did only show one arch when I "Inserted Superstar Effects" in Superstar. From what I see you are using 2 different Previews one for each file you sent me. To fix the Preview in the WIW.loredit file, I deleted the Arch Group, then added it again and it was good after that.

One thing I did notice about both of these Previews is that 2 of your props are partly off the screen. At least for me they were for me. See the first gif, if this is the same for you, the gif explains an easy fix. If all looks good for you then disregard. I don't know how this could happen and why it might show different from my screen to yours.

The second gif, is short explaination on speed of effects with Motion Effects (S5) and Superstar. Brian (author of Superstar) has some very good Tutorials located here. They are halfway down the page under the Superstar (Add On) heading. If you are new to Superstar, they are worth the watch.

Hope this helps. If I missed something or you have more questions ask away.

Thank you Alan!

The resize was very helpful and after seeing you gif, made it very easy. Kind of makes me feel like a dufus when all you did was delete the prop group and then add it back.

I will go back and watch more of those videos. Feel like I watched and read some much that I was overwhelmed. Hopefully the superstar does better than just the simple chase, I was hoping for better effects. Also planning to add some rgb mini trees to replace my old mini light trees.

Thanks again. I appreciate you taking the time to share your time and experience with me!

Zach

Wow.. what a great explanation. Goes to show someone asking a question can also help a lot of other people :)

OK, this thing continues to make me feel like an idiot.

I mentioned before that I am not great at sequencing and plan to use the instant sequence feature. I was watching the "LOR SuperStar Instant Sequence On All Your Lights" video and he opens the Superstar and then does an import visualization. When I try that, I don't have any Lviz or lee files to be able to open and use as my Visualization. I created the House 1 preview earlier that Alan displays above. Shouldn't this be my Visualization file that I use in the instant sequence?

I also tried making a new preview, but this time didn't make any prop groups, that doesn't seem to work either.

Please, tell me what the heck I am missing now.

Thanks, Zach

I see you are using S5.  Visualizer no longer exists with S5, so the process is quite different.  In S5, you do not directly open SuperStar.  You open is as a "Open SuperStar Effects" from within the S5 Sequencer.  I'm in a meeting right now and don't have the time to type up a long description.

I have tried that. I used the same preview that I created previously. If I right click on a single arch row, insert super start effect, it will only show me one arch. If I right click and drag across all channels, then it says SuoerStar effects must be placed on a single motion effects row.

It needs to be a group with multiple props.

Zach,

What you are explaining above is right and how exactly how SS should function.

You can only "Insert Superstar Effects" on 1 row at a time. If you want to "Insert Superstar Effects" on both Arches at the same time in SS, then you must use the "Arches" Group row. Remember the Arches Group is both Arches combined into a single group.

Remember the Arches group in the Preview used with the WIW.loredit had to be deleted and added again, then saved.

Watch the second gif (above) again and watch how I chose the Arches group to "Insert Superstar Effects" and both Arches show up in SS. Is this you issue or am I missing something?

Hope this helps.

Thank you both, but I am trying to Instant sequence all of it, not just insert an effect on a row.. All of the regular light strings and the RGB arches. In the video I was watching, he opens Superstar, then opens a visualization file and it shows his entire house. He then proceeds to do an Instant sequence on the entire display. This is what I can't seem to do.

Obviously you are watching a video produced while using S4.  The procedure is radically different in S5 (and your profile shows you are using S5).  I don't have time right now to type up a step by step, but really short version is that you need a prop group in the profile being used that has all the props that you want to Instant Sequence.  Use Insert SuperStar Effects on a Motion Effect row for that group, and you can Instant Sequence your entire house (or whatever portion that you desire).

Thanks Jim. Obviously it wasn't that obvious to me. 😀

The frustration level is getting the best of me. I created several prop groups. Mini trees, yard lights, roof line and arches. Created a new prop group that has all of the prop groups in it, plus the couple of things that are not grouped. Open a new animation, named it new test and then saved it. Expand the new prop group and not everything is in it. None of the other prop groups are in the new group that contains all of the prop group. As a test, I deleted out the arch group, then recreated it and it made no difference.

I wanted to see what it did, so I right clicked on the new prop group, insert superstar effect and for some reason it shows only the yard group. I don't understand that since the yard group isn't even listed in new prop group. 🤬
