Problems Upgrading Sequences For S5

Had finally gotten everything working separately (pixie 16 and CTB16PC) put them together with the cat 5 and now only the one box will actually light up. Step 33 & 34 I was unable to hit the Enhanced button but changed the speed, hit apply & ok. It said the speed was changed. Opened SE loaded a sequence & now the pixie doesn't light any pixels on any of the ports. Hardware Utility shows the boxes are connected together on the network but only the ctb16 actually lights up the bulbs.

When I open the sequence from previous version it shows a Upgrade sequence to S5 format. Think I should be changing any setting in there besides leaving them alone & just hitting "ok"? It shows this error after it "Upgrades to S5" but I have the pixie controller set to Unit Id #7 and other controller to Unit #1.

These channels had no match in the preview and have been archived. This means they can still appear in the sequence grid, but they cannot drive lights.

When I play it in the sequencer it only lights up the bulbs to Controller 1, not 7, also, I realize this is way more channels than I have available on my old unit and one pixie16.  Just not sure how to get both operating together.

LSUFiregal,

Your situation is not uncommon; a lot of people will want to upgrade their shows as you're doing.

The best workflow to get to S5 from S3/S4 is to FIRST create your preview.  Your preview is where all your controller connections, colors, naming, etc. is all setup.  When you import an old sequence, LOR is going to attempt to "create" a preview from your information, and often it's a lot more work to rearrange it than to start fresh.  First, create your 2018 preview in S5 with your layout as you have it now.  Then, import a sequence as you've done.  Instead of having LOR make your layout, choose the one you've just created.  Once inside the sequence, you may have some archived props; however, you can simply copy/paste programming from archived props to your new props and get rolling.

You mentioned you were able to get them to work in the Hardware Utility; that's a great first step. If they don't work in programming yet test OK, there's an issue with some sort of sequencer or network configuration.  To get them to work, you need to make sure the following things are in order:

  • Ensure your preview unit IDs and channel IDs correspond to your actual setup (i.e. Unit 03 is your arches)
  • Create Playback Files (this will export enhanced programming)
  • Make sure your network speeds are compatible with your hardware, and that enhanced networks are enabled in the Network Configuration
  • Ensure that the control panel is open
  • Make sure you don't have any wireless linkers on your enhanced network

We can get half of the strands to work in sequencer but only 1 & 2. 3 thru 16 are still no go's. Everything works in the Hardware Utility. When I tried to make the adjustment in Network preferences I changed the speed to 500k but it would not let me click on enhanced button.

How many controllers do you have, and what are they? Are you running more than one network?

I will pm you email address, create a Animation Sequence in S5 (no music) then either post the .loredit file here or sned it to my email. That file will give us all of your prop info so we can sort this out. Gong back and forth in the forums is slower, looking at your setup is much easier to figure things out.

Pixie 16 and a CTB16PC. Have them hooked together with the cat5 like the directions say, they're both found in when I'm in my hardware utility. I gave up on it for the day, will get back at it in the morning & send you the file. The sequences I've been trying to use are the prebuilt ones from lor. Thanks for the help.

Whenever I go to create anything new the old box shows up, Unit 01:01 through unit 01:16. The pixie16 which should be unit 07 doesn't show up at all in S5.  We have no props, just 3 strings of 50 cosmic color bulbs.  U wanted to try and get the box operational before I bought more lights for it.  All of our sequences are the protected ones you buy from LOR.  I tried to just go in and create a sequence from scratch, but like I said the pixie16 doesn't even show up to do anything with.  If I make an animation file to send you it will only have the first unit, is that helpful at all?
