More Than 170 Pixels?

How do you all handle a prop that has more than 170 pixels??

We re-made a lot of our props this year with pixel nodes instead of pixel strips... Which caused our DMX output to be over 512.... So now we are trying to figure out how to fix this... How do you spit a prop across two different outputs?

Any advice on how to handle this is GREAT appreciated!! Thanks!! :)

You did not really define what you need help with (the LOR channel configuration, or the physical hardware part of it).  The DMX protocol does not allow more than 512 channels per universe (single RS-485 network).  Therefore if you need more than 512 channels, you need to run two (or more) universes.  It's a simple matter to define multiple universes in either Visualizer, Sequence Editor, or Preview Editor.  If you are driving pixels from pixel controllers (where RS-485 networks does not apply), it depends on the controllers being used.  Some allow splitting universes on a strings, and some do not.  Without knowing what controllers you are using, I can't tell you what the requirements are for the specific controller you are using.

Jim is correct in that we need to know what type of controllers you have. Pixcon, Alphapix, Falcon, Advatek controllers will allow you to run 2 or more unviverses per port. This year I have many props that are close to using 2 universes. If your controller allows this you can make changes on the hardware side in the contoller web based interface. For example: on port (1) you universe start would be (1)...then on port (2) the universe start # would be (3)...port (3) would be universe start # (5)...etc. This allows you to utilize the 2 universes (up to 340 pixels) you need for your props without using additional ports or buying extra contollers. Hope this helps...
