Feature request - Horizontal Position offset in Motion Effects

In the Motion Effects Generator, you can set a Position Offset to vary the vertical position of an effect.  It works very well.  However there is no way to control the horizontal position.  I am currently sequencing a bunch of text on P5 and P10 arrays for my Tune to signs using an effect type of "Text".  First of all, I noticed that the Left / Center / Right justification changes the effect in the Effects Generator, but has essentially no effect on the actual array - it's always centered (see below for details).  There are times where I really don't want it centered and the only way to move it horizontally is to add spaces before or after the text entry.  Unfortunately, that is not very accurate.  It would be nice to have a Horizontal Position Offset control.

For a test of the justification, I used a piece of the song I'm currently working on.  The top row of text is the artist name - Mariah Carey in this case.  Her name takes about half the width of a 3W x 2H P5 matrix (192W x 64H pixels).  I created three effects of about one second each that were identical except that one was left justified, the second was center justified and the third was right justified.  The look in Effects Generator shows them justified as the setting would indicate.  When I play them, the only difference was that on the third segment, Mariah shifted one pixel to the right (Carey did not).

Thanks for the information. I have removed the justify buttons for the text effect in the next release.

I am thinking that there should be a new TextXY effect that just has these parameters:

  1. the text
  2. font size
  3. X position (standard S5 slider control, so text could move if you set different start and stop positions). Allows text to be positioned all the way off screen left to off screen right.
  4. Y position (also a slider)

Would that meet your requirements?

Since they don't do anything, it makes sense to remove them...

That would be cool.  While you are looking at that chunk of code, can you please have indication of the following that are currently dropdown selections for test:  Font, Color, Bold, Underline, & Italics (although the latter two are pretty obvious).  As it is now, there is no way to know what font or color is set on previously entered text (useful when trying to match it somewhere else).
