Singing trees

Recommended Posts

Anybody know if LOR will make the singing trees available for purchase, the ones they had on display at Christmas Expo in 2017.

Thanks!

I haven't seen LOR singing trees for sale.  But I have seen them on HolidayCoro's site.  Maybe that is what you thinking of.

It isn't HolidayCoro, they had them on display at their booth at last year's Christmas Expo and Dan Baldwin had mention it would be their next items for sale.

Don't know what happened.  I guess I will find out at this year's Christmas Expo in Mesquite, Texas.

Those state that they will be powered by smart pixels and a Pixie2. Personally I don't care for smart pixels on a singing face as that makes the sequencing that much more complicated. I would use dumb RGB and a CMB24D as I could still do the color changes and I don't really need to do chases around the face.

Thanks, I didn't see that.  I wonder if they'll have them for sale at Christmas Expo.

I agree with Mr. P. no need for pixels on singing faces.

Much easier to program eight RGB channels instead of 600 pixel channels.

Here is an example of the channels you would have to program for each face:

8 RGB (24 channels)

000000000000000000000000

vs.

200 pixels (600 channels)

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

See the difference?  ?

I see that they are only 190 - 200 pixels per tree.  That's pretty low res.  By comparison, the HC trees are about four times that.  Not a recommendation, just a reference point.

I sort of agree that 'smart' RGB Pixels on singing faces is a bit of a waste (mine are wire frames with M5 leds) but if using certain other sequencing software then its hardly any extra effort between leds, dumb RGB and 'smart' RGB pixels.

I use CMB 24 for 6 mouth positions  and 144 pixels on the outline and eyes. This gives me the opportunity to use effects on the outline. in addition the pixels on the eyes let me do 3 position of Eyes open, eyes closed and evil eyes.  Here is a video showing the way I use this set up. I have  changed the eye open pixels just a bit to look better but this gives you the Idea of what smart and dumb pixels can do together.
