It's a guarantee I won't be there.

Basically, this is the only public forum I'm in. And like it that way too.:D

But... I'm in a private one with my very closest friends. They have some of the most unbelieveable talent I've ever encountered. Maybe some of that will rub off one day.

As a noobie to this hobby, I'm glad you guys are saying things like this... it definitely has a "different" vibe over there.

Needless to say, I like it here just fine.

just a correction ...

Reporting a post does not remove it. A moderator still has to do that.

It is not automatic.

Wow, I had not idea there was so much animosity toward PC and VB. I participate in a lot of forums hosted by VB and look forward to its much more robust search feature.

I would have to give the new PC forum a thumbs down because there is not an easy way to search for new posts. On the other forums, you click the new posts button and it allows you to see what has been posted or read threads you have not been updated.

The new PC forum does not have that function (that I can see).

Regarding reporting of posts, I do not have a problem if they are pulled, but knowing that there have been some already pulled within 24 hours makes me wonder....

As a member of 5 Christmas forums (including this one) and a Moderator with nothing to do on one of the others (because everyone is and acts lke a civilized adult) I rarely post on PC because of the reasons already mentioned.

Of course I don't post a whole lot here either, I just read and learn.;)

I certainly wish Chuck the best with PC, but it has (as one person described it) the flavor of the Old Wild West where everyone is "gunning" for you.

Well since I see my named mentioned I feel I should give a brief history as to why I am in fact HISTORY.

Over a year ago a nut from Montana was threatening a member in CA and a couple of other states and in public was preteding to be someone he was not. He then began to threaten me. I asked Chuck to please do something about it but he did not and the threats continued. I sent Chuck the PM's and asked again. When he refused I began posting the PM's for all to see on every thread on PC. I did this for four hours. Later I was removed. Six months later Chuck allowed me to come back although I had been on PC for about three months under another name.

After a few months a member starting hijacking threads and making them all about him. Later I posted some pics of me (Santa) with some children. He started talking about everything except the post. I sent him a PM and must admit that I have a temper and let him have it with both barrels. It was a NSFW PM that is for sure.

So what did he do? He sent it to Chuck and then posted it for all to see. I was removed and he is still posting and bragging about being the first to do everything. I love this hobby but for the life of me do not understand some people. That is what I like about here and one other place I belong. It may not be the most positive place but we speak the truth without fear and treat each other as adults. Most of the time.

Thanks for allowing me to stay.;)

As a member of several online forums, I watch how incredible easy it is for a sane forum to become a complete disaster. It doesn't matter how big the forum is, or how many members are on it, it only takes one or two people (and often times, the 2 people are the same person with 2 different forum IDs) to disrupt a peaceful community. And to make it worse, people are attracted to these people like ants to a summer picnic. As is so often the case, if people simply ignored the offending poster, the poster will soon go away.

In real life scenerios, many people have posted about the neighbor who has sent an anonymous letter, or was overheard complaining by someone else. We let our emotions get the best of us. It doesn't matter that for 3 weeks straight that the poster has had non-stop traffic, kids enjoying the lights and music, etc - that one negative person will have such an effect that suddenly the poster second-guesses their work, wondering if they should tone it down, etc.

On the left side of the screen under the heading 'Navigation' there is a link called 'New Posts' that does what you are asking.

No no no...it's "I love this bar, It's my kind of place..."

(from Toby Keith's "I Love this Bar")

BTW, going off-topic, if anyone happens to enjoy Toby Keith and are in Vegas, make sure you hit his bar/restaurant in Harrah's Hotel/Casino. Good food, and definitely a 'Vegas' attitude!

Jeff... I couldn't agree more. This is a great forum in many ways.

And... I'm "History" from PC too because I spoke up against the "Elect." Needless to say, I haven't missed anything. :D

Dan has spent time, money, and efforts to support his product with this forum. It's a great resource from the newbie's to the old pro's.

Dan & John, thank you.

PS: I didn't receive a discount for this post. LOL! :D

My wife and I have been there. She really likes Toby Keith so we had to stop there while we visited vegas. Lots of different pictures of him (of course) on the walls.
Back to the topic,

I haven't been a member here or at PC for very long but I do get the clique vibe over at PC. Even so, I filter through the crap and still find valuable info (to me) over there. I've learned that no place is perfect, no job and not even life by some definitions. It's the things we take with us from our experience.

Now I got a small taste of what you guys are talking about over there when I replied to a post. I felt like an idiot for trying to help and offering input as the thread turned into a big joke, literally. It's hard to not get frustrated buy that stuff and I could not imagine getting threats from another member. But I know there are other people like me who are new to this and need lots of help also. Maybe not as much as me, but still could use help. So if I see something I may be able to help with, I'll try again.

Recently because of PC I met Jeff Trikowski on the phone. He was very nice and offered help any time just like the people in this place. For me it made it worth any hassle there to meet him. He also led me to CLC which seems like a great place for info as well.

I'm not saying I support PC but I think I can take the good with the bad.

But because of some of the things that go on there I can really appreciate this forum. Being a newbie and getting a warm welcome, asking any question and getting a honest sincere answer and not feeling like I will be ridiculed for my lack of knowledge. The support of this forum and LOR is great and makes this 'hobby' a lot of fun to be a part of.

Thank you for that

Mark

As a moderator at PC. I can say we can not read PM's and the report button does not delete messages.

Robin, William,

I want to say that you guys have awesome talent, I did see the "secrete" talks about the bans, but I can assure you, I did not have any part in those talks. I agree about the way things are going on PC, and I am starting to feel that I shouldn't be a member anymore, its starting to drive me crazy! (the bad kind)

Anyway, about the talk to open another Christmas site, I am all for it. heck I would even RUN it if the demand was high enough. (I already have enough webspace and a good domain 'christmasadventure.net')

So anyway, I am looking for alternatives.

Glad to help Mark - you have my number so call anytime...

Back to the topic - I agree with many of the posts and comments here. I participated in PC extensively in the pre-Carson era. However, in the past 2 years I have largely dropped off of PC to focus on other projects that several of you are aware of as well as to help local friends and people in the offline / real world (such as Mark). There are people I would not have had an opportunity to meet and communicate with if it were not for places like the LOR forum and CLC / TCL. The interpersonal relationships make this an enjoyable hobby.

The LOR forums provide a wealth of knowledge and information in a friendly, focused environment. I am very appreciative of this place.

Daniel.... the new site is in the works and will debut at the Georgia Mini-Plus.

You can run the Virginia chapter if you like.

As far as PC goes, I haven't missed anything there. It's a den full of rattle snakes. 98% are fine people, the other 2% aren't.

Nice! If it looks anything like your site now, it will be awesome!

As for PC, well if you can visit as a guest, take a look at one of my blog entries...
