John
This is my second year running an animated display.Started in 2006 with 16 channels of LOR. The 16 channels controlled the house lights and the lights on the lawn.In 2007 I added a 48 channel LOR MegaTree. The tree contains 16 channels of red, 16 channels of green, and 16 channels of blue. Each channel (slice) contains three strands of each color. That provides 144 total strands of lights on the MegaTree. All the MegaTree lights are C6 LED's purchased from Paul at creativedisplays.com.The tree pole is two 10 foot sections of 1-1/2 rigid conduit. The conduit goes into a PVC sleeve that is in three feet of concrete. There are no guy wires on the tree and it has withstood over 50MPH winds at least twice this season. You can see it in action on YouTube HERE. John
Looking at my original post I must have been day dreaming. The Mega Tree center pole is actually two 10 foot sections of 2" Rigid Conduit.I wouldn't go with anything smaller in diameter without risking failure of the pole. Susie
Just watched your videos on youtube! I love your mega-tree and sequences. Great job. We're still undecided on how to do the mega-tree this year, but this sure gives me some ideas. Thanks!
