Greg,

I have really just started searching, but this site seems to have a wealth of information: www.ChrisHillman.net Check out his link page at http://members.aol.com/C40179/ Looks to have 100s of links. I haven't gotten through half of them yet and some are no longer valid, but it sure beats filtering through a google search.

Here is another one that seems to have some good intro info: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-create-simple-animatronics-using-the-MAKE-c/

What I would like to do is construct an animatronic reindeer band, synchronized to the music. May not get it done this year, but hopefully, I can get one or two prototypes done to see what works and what doesn't. I also found many animatronics sites dealing with Halloween. Techniques would be the same, just make different characters.

Denny, thanks. I found a few good ones:
http://www.animatronics.org although it doesn't go into too much detail, but such an inspiration
http://www.animatronicsworkshop.com Very detailed about a servo controlled system, although I think we might need more power for larger figures from a pneumatic setup

I did send the guy at animatronics.org an email with a few questions last week although he hasn't responded yet. I am still a little confused as to some of the details, but I really want to take on the challenge here.

Thanks a lot
Greg

P.S. BTW I think with the rumored IO32 device coming out this will be the best for our needs with animatronic devices
