I actually feels sorry for the dude, you would think that he would have learned after the first dozen times or so.

They usually never learn. I knew someone like that but he was a carpenter. He hurt himself constantly. It was guaranteed. Power tools and nail guns.

Apparently DM's point is that he and everyone on the helpdesk, feel that helpdesk customers are complete morans. But keep buying LOR products so they have a steady stream of cumps to make fun of.

IMO, can't represent a company while trying to be "one of the boys" on a forum.  Not if you're going to mix in terseness sarcasism or dry humor from time to time.

Just have to use common sense  and some retraint if you're going to try and live in both worlds.

I am a complete joker online with all of my customers. They love that about me. While one person out of 1,000 might not like it, the other 999 enjoy that about me. It shows that I am human and that I have a twisted sense of humor.

One thing my customers know me for is teasing. I love working them all up into a frenzy and they know that I enjoy doing it to them. I have many thousands of women as my customers from 20 somethings to 80 year olds. Try getting and holding the attention of that many women. Why no, I am not an escort. I only sell digital downloads. My customers follow my every move and every word that I post.

I completely disagree. A help desk ticket would be totally out of line to cut up on. But I appreciate the human side to people sharing things like this. If you can't laugh with others, or even at yourself, then you're missing out on some of life's greatest moments.

I laughed my face off & am glad DevMike shared it. Even with the dig at us morons.

I remember sitting at the big lab counters in science class in 4th grade and wondering, hmmmmm, I wonder what would happen if I stick this paper clip in that outlet? Never did that again.

No, I don't actually think EVERYONE who comes to the help desk is like that guy.  There really have only been a few -- about the same number as people who don't get the joke.

FYI:  The guy in the video actually DOES know what he is doing - he's an electrical engineer if I remember correctly.  The videos while shockingly (pun intended) authentic looking, are done safely (and explicitly to BE funny).

So he put a soldering iron up his nose on purpose?

Just because it's convincing doesn't mean it's real. ;)

Think about it.  Anyone who's that stupid and has done that many stupid things should be dead -- unless he knows what he's doing and just acting.

There's all kinds of stupid out there....

These guys should have bought Lightorama CCRs and equipment. Then maybe they wouldn't be trying to hang such a big fan to cool their power supplies off..

Objection: Drawing conclusions about those, including myself, who help on the help desk.

No further comment.

The guy in the video is an engineer and does these videos for a laugh and to entertain. The world needs more people like him. I love his humor.

Here is his about page on  Electroboom http://www.electroboom.com/?page_id=22

Here is his youtube page, some funny videos there. https://www.youtube.com/user/msadaghd

I hadn't seen this compilation of his electrical fails. I'm still laughing thinking about it.

Here is what every person on the help desk thinks the person on the other end of the line is like (and we are probably not that far off).

Yeah, that... that is how you perceive us (the customer) as logging a support ticket?

Yeah, about that ...

Now, that is funny!

Here's someone who liked it.

Oh! He was joking, see?

Put the pitchforks down and laugh a little.
