4.2.2 - PixCon16 configuration may throw 523 error occasionally

Recommended Posts

There is a bug in the current 4.2.2 (and probably earlier) Network Configuration update of the PixCon16.  Occasionally when you update the board you may get a 523 error:

An error occurred updating the board.  The Error Information is:

Error number: 523

Description:  Configuration Update Failed

Please ensure the board is still powered up and connected to the network, and then retry the update.

The solution?  Turn on the heat or air conditioning!  No, not really, but it is temperature related.  When updating the board, the Network Config program will first write out the new config, and then read it back in.  After it reads the configuration in, it goes byte by byte to ensure the update actually happened.  The issue is that 4.2.2 (and possibly earlier versions) is incorrectly looking at the temperature field of the board.  If the temp of the board changes between the time you initially read the configuration and the write back to the board, you'll get the error.

The configuration actually did take place, but because the temp is different the program thinks something went wrong.  If you get the error, just double check that all your configuration is there.  If so, just ignore the error.

This is fixed in the next release.
