Old Sarge Posted September 7, 2015 Share Posted September 7, 2015 coroplast from home depot http://www.homedepot.com/s/coroplast?NCNI-5 they have others available to depending on what size/ how many, how thick etc. you want. http://www.michaels.com/10159051.html#start=1 or any projector to project a image to the coro. to project a picture outline from a coloring book etc. make your size you want. draw your outline. make small hole about every 1/2 to 3/4 inch along outline to mount lights. If you are not in a hurry you can use like a small drill bit and drill the holes if you dont try to go to fast. or a soldering gun to melt them. I Used a drill. and a back board under it when I drilled mine. you can make your own mouth shapes for how many different shapes you are going to use... most use 5 especially for sharing sequences etc. some use jut two. top lip and open mouth or bottom lip.or if you want to do it the fast way just order your faces from holidaycoro http://www.holidaycoro.com/ you can also go on you tube and search diy christmas decorations, singing light trees etc. and you will find a lot there. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There are some which may be harder to understand due to highly exaggerated upper and lower lip position. Most of the face config files have five channels which result in 7 of the 10 shapes used in speech. You may not be up for doing your own in papagayo, but this video will help you understand the importance of a good prop design. msturtz Posted September 13, 2015 Share Posted September 13, 2015 For Halloween, used a 4x8' sheet of "hardboard", which is that pressed fiber-board stuff, that you sometimes find with a white coating on one side. I cut it in half, so I have two 4x4 panels, and built a frame out of 2x2" on the back to make it a little more sturdy. I traced my face shapes on them, and drilled holes for mini-lights, then painted the front black. The kids say one of them is a "boy pumpkin" and the other is a "girl pumpkin". Each panel is 8 channels, so the two side by side are one full controller. I stand them up using T-posts, and I hang plastic pumpkins on the sides (backup singers :-), and I polish it off with some floods behind that light up the trees in the yard for a little extra effect. I also run speakers near the display, so they can be heard without a car radio, especially on Halloween. I'm actually looking to build a second set about half that size or less, but with the same basic shapes. The kids school has "trunk or treat", and it'd be neat to take my show on the road.
