Recommended Posts

Module: Visualizer

Software Version: 4.0

OS Version: WIndows 8.1

Description:
Created a sequence with regular channels, CCR channels and DMX universe channels. The regular and CCR channels play to the visualizer but the DMX universe channels dont play.

Repeatability: Have tried everything I can think of and DMX channels will not display to the visualizer.

No, didnt know it had to be running.

Not on the show computer and of coarse I am getting the FTD2xx.dll is missing error. Anyway that can get fixed in this next version.

You can install the USB drivers to get rid of that error. I had never run the software on a machine that I did not have the USB drivers installed on so I had never noticed that error message.

Ok, Finally got all the drivers installed and network setup and the visualizer worked fine at that point.

It would be nice if somehow the drivers for the comm listener were installed with the LOR version. I sequence on my work computer, office computer, even my surface pro tablet. I never have the usb dongle on those computers. Before now we didnt need to have the comm listener running to use the visualizer. I hate to always have to fake it out.

Thanks for the late night help last night, love all the new stuff.

You sure you want to do this as an open beta  :)

I'll check again with the rest of the team.  If I remember correctly, there were issues with us distributing the file with the installer (which may have been licensing related).

I just tried it on my non-show computer that I sometimes sequence with and is a backup for the show computer. I cannot run the listener unless the controllers are actually connected due to the fact that the comm listener keeps launching over and over, new process each time on the task bar. I have no desire to be forced to have the controllers connected just to sequence only.

You have something else wrong.  You do not need controllers attached (even DMX ones) to use the visualizer.

When I have the listener running on my laptop home internet crashes. Any way around this? My show computer isn't hooked up to the internet so I have never had this problem before.

Try setting the E1.31 to unicast instead of multicast.

You could also just turn off wifi on the laptop when the listener is running for the time being.

Well, not sure what to tell you but it doesn't like it...When I launch the control panel, I see tons of comm listener errors that fail, then windows attempts to located a fix online for it, then launches another comm listener process, which in-turn, fails too. This continues and quickly fills the task bar and continues till I stop the control panel. I've attached a screen dump. This is under windows 8.1 on a laptop. I'll try this on the show computer and see if there's an issue there.

Sorry, this message editor won't allow the file size above 356kb

Did you install the drivers for the USB adapter as well as follow the instructions here? -> http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/23207-initial-setup-for-e131-if-you-do-not-have-an-lor-rs485-usb-adapter/

OK. I would have thought I would have known better but your instructions fixed it! I had never actually connected this laptop to the controllers before therefore the drivers were never installed. All better now. Thank You

I'm going to try to escalate this with the team since we've seen a couple of these now.  I agree that it makes no sense to install drivers for something you are not going to be using to get something working.  Maybe we can find some way around it.
