steve synek
Some of my random thoughts and comments after using the software and setting up the visualizer for the first time. I am a LOR user and have not investigated any of the other software out there. I am programming challenged- stuck in a blinky mode. I am very pleased with this software. I found the nudge buttons extremely helpful as a lot of my input was just trial and error. I just kept entering different data on a hope it would look ok. I can't say that I had a good grasp on what I was doing. I look forward to my one universe of DMX being recognized with all the tools ( I don't remember which one of the tools would let me program colors but not save them). I found working in the viseffects screen my favorite for my needs. The "a1" "a2" line was at time difficult to work with as the ends seemed to cover the lights- I wish there was a way to bump the line once drawn and maybe have the "knobs" disappear once drawn. I do not count my channels and was disappointed the only way to find out that I exceed the license limit is when I completed the sequencing and tried to export. I couldn't get any results that I liked with the fan tool- I wished it worked with the viseffects. Don't place your props to close together in the visualizer like I did. Watch this video if you dare........ I am more pleased than not, but can't help but feel this blinky might be a problem once up on the real house. Be gentle with your comments. Anyone know of any videos of other work using SuperStar programming on a house- on something other than a tree/matrix? Thank you Brian!!! Don
Track down Brian Larsen's videos. Brian and I did work on the CCR's in 2013, both using Superstar.
BrianBruderer
I looked at the video, I am impressed! Its a bit active, but its an active song, so I did not think it was excessively blinky. I like the nudge buttons as well, also note that if you press the Ctrl key while clicking on a nudge button, it does a "big nudge" and move 5 steps at a time. The most interesting comment you make is about the a1, a2 line used for the visEffects. Having a way of bumping the line is a good idea. I'm not sure about having the knobs disappear once drawn. I think there are people that would want them to stay there, perhaps there could be a checkbox in the dialog box to control if the knobs disappear or not. Yes, it would be desirable to have all of the effects work directly on the visualization the way visEffects do, maybe next year. Also, you have a really cool display, it is well organized and lends itself well to being used with the visEffects!

saxon
Well Steve, I was set to offer any advice or comments to you since my house is outlined using Superstar and I LOVE the viseffect tool but, your video is awesome! great job.I agree, a fan or shock wave within viseffect would be great! I have been experimenting using "wedges" of the viseffect around the house to create a fan effect (like a pie). Haven't found the desired effect yet but have come close.~Matt

jerry72
What is this visefeect tool you all speak of? I will be going RGB for next year and am just starting to learn how to use super star for RGB. I used it this year for just regular lights. saxon
Jerry It is a tool that allows you to do a morph "sweep" across part of, or entire display (in SS) in any direction regardless of how your sequencing grid is set up. In fact you us the morph on your visualization instead of the green sequencing grid. Some have referred to it as the flashlight effect. That was probably a lame definition sorry. Steve has a link above that his house has good examples of.~Matt
Robocrash
Is there a video tutorial for viseffect?
BrianBruderer
No there is not a video tutorial for visEffects. I hope to do many tutorials in the next few months, that would be one of them. But the principle is that you apply a morph directly to the visualization. The coordinates used on the visualization range from 0 to 100, where 0 is one edge of your visualization and 100 is the other edge.
jerry72
I would like to learn how to do that Brian. i plan to buy a few sequences but would like to program a few of my own on my mega tree and arches.
