No new open issues on LOR II beta?

What I don't understand is why the long silence? We have not heard from Dan in quite some time now. It would be nice to get some type of formal update on the current status, either from Dan or one of the developers.

Santa was spotted, being escorted off by 2 AL-iens Thig and Thog. This may delay LOR II, unless we can save Santa form these AL-iens.....Send all help.....

It's probably sort of an any day now type thing. If they absolutely knew it would be done on X day, they would tell us. Finding and fixing bugs is no easy task, and even harder to know when you've found them all. I'd like a release date as much as anyone, but I've already started sequencing, so my show won't depend on it.

Any first time LOR people need to start sequencing immediately. LOR II will be very similar to LOR I, so anything you learn in LOR I can be used in LOR II. LOR II will probably save some time sequencing along with some new effects, but sequences take a long time to get right if you've never done them before.

Question for the board:

So, if it takes another 4 weeks (optimism here) to run a complete test, that makes the soonest release date in Mid November.

Logisitically, would it be better to release LOR 2 this close to the beginning of the season (when the undiscovered bugs will be revealed), or wait until January?

I have faith in the BETA testers and their ability to find everything, but believe me, until I grab ahold of it, you will not have found all the bugs because nobody can screw up software faster than I can. I do not know how it happens, but I can crash a program just by wiggling my fingers over it.

Dale,
That is why they have me. I am the idiot of the group.

One thing to note here is this:

With each release bugs were addressed in one manner or another. Thus there are less to find each time and the time between versions of BETA's are reduced.

I think you will have a pretty clean program when it is released. I can not imagine the time, effort and money spent on this new version but has to be huge.

Will there be some problems? I think maybe. Shucks just look at the fixes you still get for Windows 2000 and now the VISTA problems.

But I will bet things will go pretty smooth.

I'll say this.

I have been using the latest release for most of the afternoon/night, and I am yet to have an issue with it. It actually is currently running my halloween display. If this is true for most of the people, I forsee this being released in the very near furture...forget about 4 weeks.

Now if only the animation of Carson's house could be downloaded with it....

Note: IF Carson did get that as a download...does this mean I get a royalty for thinking it up?!?! :D

Nah ... I don't think even the Devil could stand that song. Maybe "I want a hippotamus..." ... now that song is from the bid-D himself.
