DMX 101

I've had little reason to dig into the DMX realm but I see that it is a growing area and one that I may ultimately be interested in. Right now, I don't have a clue as to what DMX is all about.

I think I may not be alone in this... so for all of use who have yet to dig in:

1. What types of DMX devices are out there?
   
2. How does LOR control them?
3. Anyone have a picture of a device connected to a board?
4. What the pros and cons to DMX equipment?

That's all for now- But I could use some DMX schooling. So jump in with your two cents.
