ELL to run CCR

I plan on adding a 12 CCR tree this year and need to run the 2 networks for the CCRs by radio. Does anyone have any comments as to "Will it work" or not?

I really don't have a convent way to get direct cable connections.

Any suggestions will be a great help.

Never used ELLs, but from what I've read, it should. The ELLs can be set to different channels, so you would send the ELLs for one network to one channel and the ELLs for the other network to a different channel. I recall that the ELL manual explains this.

Hi I have a strange config. I have 1 sender linked to 11 CCR with 1 receiver each.
(11 wreaths in 11 windows) There was no practical way to hard wire them.

It works well up to .5 timing spaces. I lost connection twice during the whole 6 week season. (lost connection to 1 wreath for a section of show). I plan on going to a split 2 transmitters this year to eliminate the petty annoyance.

There is a way to set the frequencies to operate as 2 separate networks.

The 2 drops could have been due to radio interference. Generally really reliable.
(only had one ELL fail, in for repair) Not bad!

Mikeosf,
That's what I was hoping to hear.
I've been doing LOR for 6 years now.
16 controllers and 4 ELLs last year. No problem equipment or communication yet. Thanks for the info.

Just as a side note I use macros extensively which reduces network traffic.

So far total I have 11 Wreaths (1ccr each) ELL
4 mini trees (1ccr each) Hardwire
1 12 foot tree (3 controllers pc16)
Other props & roof-line (4 controllers pc16)

Bought 12 CCP for the back of the house windows. (plan to hard-wire them)
1 CCR for my flag pole. (plan on running 2 ribbons)

I want to convert the tree to CCP's (I need like 10 or so more)

They will look AWSOME! i hope!

Hey Mike, You might wanna call LoR directly and ask them about the number of CCRs you're wanting to power with the ELLs. They told me they couldn't handle my 9 CCRs I'm getting for my house. Check with them to be safe :)

If it works, let me know, because I hate wires!!! :) :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I have three ccr in a remote location on the roof. How many ccr can you run with an ell?

I spoke with the ELL/CCR specialist at LoR (forget his name) and after I told him that I had 9 CCRs that were going to be run on 2 networks because of everything else - he said though he'd love for me to buy them :) they definitely wouldn't work for what I need because I'm sending so many commands to the lights (not using macros very much).

To be safe, I'll defer to LoR. Call them, make sure you're speaking to their CCR/ELL peeps and describe your setup and they will answer honestly if it'll be smooth/compatible for your needs.

Hope this helps and good luck :) :)
