So I should be able to run 4 networks/DMX universe off of 1 Cat 5 cable, just by taking 2 wires and putting them into pins 4 & 5 of the jack or should I just run 1 Cat 5 for each network and DMX universe? Dr. Jones Posted February 19, 2012 Share Posted February 19, 2012 yes...Lor adds power to one of the pins for such devices as the iDMX, ELL, etc.DMX512A standard only allows 2 universes per cat 5but- one manufacture of E1.31 uses all 8 wires to send 4 universes of dmxtherefore to be safe - i'd limit myself to 2 universes/networks per cat5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
