I've been doing a lot of research on RGB color strips and what not, but I keep coming across items very similar to CCR's for half the price such as this one http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&category=BARS&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2FRGB_DC-83.htm. I somewhat understand how CCR's are programmed but I have absolutely no clue if 3rd party RGB's will work with LOR. After reading a very long forum post about them, they do pretty much everything a CCR does except you can't control every led, but you can control every 3rd led. You can still do multiple color effects and chasing as you would with a CCR. If you go to the website and watch the video, you will see that the different colors come in sections of 3. This is because it is essentially 3 dumb strips put together to make one "semi-intelligent" strip. What I'm worried about though is programming. For those not familiar with them each module has 3 sets of LEDs (as each set is actually a R, G, and B LED extremely closely approximated, so all in all you have 9 individual LEDs (3 of each primary color) per 5050 module).The only way you can get all the colors is to have a DMX mini-controller (about $7 from cheapdmx, etc)for each module, or you could run each module on an individual channel from a LOR DC board, and set the intensity levels manually to get the colors you want.Either way the costs add up, not to mention the time involved.Greg Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
