stanward
I had moisture intrusion on 3 of my CTB16PC controllers last year.Luckily I conformal coated them. However, the ethernet ports/jacks have some green corrosion on them (because I did not conformal coat the harps of the connector).I tried Electronic contact cleaner, but that affects the conformal coating (and didn't take off the corrosion). What is the best way to clean this up (and to restore a solid electrical connection)?Stan
evan.a
If you have soldering/desoldering capability, you could order a replacement ethernet connector and fix it yourself. I'm sure Dan can help you out with the part.
Dennis Cherry
Once the contact rust or turn green they are not going to working to peak perforamnce anymore. You need to replace the connectors.Sorry. if cleaning do not conformal coat the connector or the contacts. That is putting an insulated coating on everthing.
stanward
I did not conformal coat the ethernet connectors. A bit of moisture got in last year and caused the harps to corrode.
rescue_653
A trick I learned with cell phones is if the contacts did that was use a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol. It cleans it and evaporates fast. Now it is up to you if you want to try this on a LOR conector.
