Increasing Visualizer Performance

Decreasing the size of your Visualizer is probably the best way you can improve performance. But there are other things you can do to make things run smoother.

To give things a speed boost, only turn on 'Control Visualizer' and turn off all the other 'control' options. Under the play menu turn off:
Control Lights
Control Holiday Lights Designer
Move Grid with Play
Vary Color of Channel Buttons
Highlight Current Event
Highlight Current Time

That will cut down on the amount of data and processing the Sequence Editor needs to do. The Visualizer works by simulating 1 or more networks of controllers, so basically the amount of data being sent is doubled if you have 'Control Lights' turned on, or even tripled if you also have on 'Control Holiday Lights Designer'. It takes time to send data, and when we are talking about sequences that can send 100,000 changes per minute every little bit helps.

If you have an old Animation window, you should close that as well.

While creating a new sequence, you may want to enable things like the 'Highlights' and 'Move Grid'. Just remember that there is only so much computing power, so you may have to trade off some 'response' to use those tools.

Thanks, just last night I noticed that the S3 visualizer was struggling a bit. I'll try lightening the load tonight and enjoy the extra speed.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new S3.
