What's New in S3...

Hey Bob...

I really LOVE the new Channel Groups option!!

And I'm at lunch and was just going to re-configure my channels, but realized in your presentation that I did not see any option that would allow us to group our current channels...will this be available when we convert over to S3?

I don't want to take the time to reconfigure my channels if in the end, I will just have to redo it in S3 to have the groups I want...

I think it goes without saying (hence ArnoldC did not say it) that I am and always have been "Out To Lunch"....

And Ron...in regards to your signature:

I'm always thinking one step ahead.
Like a carpenter... Making stairs.

Most carpenters will think about ALL the stair treads before making them...
If you make them one at a time, guarantee you it will not come out right... :)

Yeah, you beat me to it! I was doing this thing called work... Gotta pay for this new hobby some way you know!

And you are soooo right about the stair thing! I tend to do that on everything I do.. Got to in my industry.

You can drag and drop individual channels into a channel group, but if you've got a consecutive set of channels that you want to make into a group, it's probably a lot easier to use "Convert to Group":

Note: Expanding and collapsing a group is a lot faster and smoother than it looks in that video. I don't know why it looks slow and clunky in the video - I'm guessing it's an artifact of the video capture program that I used to make the video.

Thanks Bob!!!

Now I can procrastinate even longer!!! lol

I did specifically look at the menu you had on the screen...but did not see anything that said "Convert to Group"...that's why I thought I would ask...

That might be because "Convert to Group" didn't exist until five minutes ago. :P

Ok, I have a quick question, I saw in the video that LOR supports DMX now. Does that mean that I can use my Enttec USB Pro Dongle with my DMX controllers with LOR without having to us an iDMX? Because if I can, that would be AWESOME!!!

Is there a tool to draw a 'Z tree' in the new visualizer?

My lights are wrapped around my tree and it is in 4 sections.

Section 1 (top) has 4 channels (R,G,B,W)
Section 2 (top middle)has 4 channels (R,G,B,W)
Section 3 (bottom middle) has 4 channels (R,G,B,W)
Section 4 (bottom) has 4 channels (R,G,B,W)

However, this year my plans are to put CCBs on these trees.
Section 1 50 bulbs
Section 2 100 bulbs
Section 3 150 bulbs
Section 4 200 bulbs
