jimswinder Posted January 17, 2011 Share Posted January 17, 2011 The deadlines are fast approaching for the Pre-Sales and ordering new lights for this year...Was just wondering if ANYONE (Dan?) had heard an estimated price for the new Cosmic Color Bulbs that Dan said would be available this year?To quote Dan from another post: "With 100% certainty, we will be expanding the Cosmic Color series to include Cosmic Color Bulbs and Cosmic Color Floods".I really don't want to buy another $5000 worth of LED's then have the Cosmic Color Bulbs come out a few weeks/months later.Even an estimated price would make the decision of buy/not buy a whole lot easier... And once that money is spent, there's no going back... hope to hear from Dan real soon... If price is good enough, I might be in for a couple dozen CCB. redsea300 Posted January 18, 2011 Share Posted January 18, 2011 I am also wondering cost of CCB and rgb floods. I have ordered 2 Rainbow floods and now know they are not as bright as I was hoping. I need to order a lot more or I would rather use LOR stuff.Cost is a factor. i am also placing a large light order next week.Trying to figure out my christmas budget.Still need to buy 11 more CCRs. I'm ready to plop down a pile of money on LEDs for next year, but I'd REALLY rather have CCBs, but don't know if I'll be able to afford them if they are in the cost range of CCRs... First a description of the CCB...The CCB will use power line communication. That means that it will not need a data cable going to it but only a power cord plug and the data will go over the power line using regular extension cords. So for a mega tree you could run a single power cord and use in-line vampire plugs around the bottom of a tree and just plug the CCBs into it. Regular data cable control will also be included.The CCB bulb will be molded to look like a C9 Christmas Light (molds are currently being produced and we will provide pictures as soon as possible)...The CCB comes in strings of 50 bulbs with 8" spacing. The CCB controller will accept 1 or 2 strings of CCB bulbs. The CCB will be sold in 50 and 100 bulb sets. The set includes the controller with internal power supply and one or two sets of bulbs.Ball park prices... 100 bulb set will be about $199 (or about $99 per sting of 50)... 50 bulb set will be about $149... We plan to have them on pre sale in the February/March sale. I do not know what the sale prices will be.------The Cosmic Color Flood will come with a controller/power supply in weather resistant enclosure. The flood heads will be in sealed aluminum enclosures with mounting brackets, sealed cables with sealed connectors run back to the controller. The controller is a 6 channel, constant current driver that can handle one or two heads.If you purchase the two head package, it will run about $149 per head, this includes cables, enclosures, flood heads, constant current driver, outdoor power supply. This is going to make RGB much more obtainable for LOR users. $2 per bulb is about what I spent on my current RGB strings, but then I also had to add an iDMX which bumped the cost to over $3 per bulb. Plus i had to live with the 128 intelligent channel limits of the idmx.I'm a bit surprised by the 10" spacing as that's much larger spacing than many other RGB implementations.. but it will give us a lot of flexibility. thanks again and looking forward to experimenting with them. I do hope there is a support option in the new release of software to handle other RGB products.I think there will be a bunch of us that want to use RGB products but don't want to switch software to gain the ability. I also don't want to have to purchase a DMX adapter for every 512 RGB nodes if they talk DMX. I just hope we are not forced into this choice. I didn't see where Dan said anything about different software or anything special to purchase...Also...any chance of a "Large Order Discount" for 50 or more strings of 100 ct?I would also be losing a big WOW factor...the amount of lights I would be using!! I just think the larger share of people will want smaller M6 style RGB bulbs.If this is the case; they will have to chose to stay with S2 and only use RBG products from LOR or switch software vendors.I don't intend to switch from S2 so I hope there is support for other style RGB products even if they are not supplied by LOR. Keith Adams Posted January 18, 2011 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Actually I have heard of a program called XLights that takes the place of the scheduler program and I believe it lets you run LOR and DMX and supports 3rd party dongles. So that might be a choice to keep using LOR sequencing and add rgb products that Dan doesn't offer the equvalent of. Not that there is anything wrong with Dan's hardware. His support is top notch.
