    Wanting Singing Faces

i highly recommend using Papagayo for singing faces. 4th Of July was my first attempt at singing faces. I gotta feeling and Firework were done by me from scratch (using Papagayo), the others were purchased. You can see my videos here, http://www.youtube.com/gotbluemilk1. Here is Bob's very helpful post/video on how to use Papagayo, along with his software to convert the file to LOR. http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/20318-how-to-video-on-using-papagayo-for-mouth-movements/page__hl__papagayo
  5. first year with DMX and Corostars. I am very happy with David and his products (holidaycoro.com)! Dave was very helpful through chat and sent me videos pertaining to my problems which cleared things up perfectly. i ran my DMX and power over CAT5 like he suggests. using the power injection method was simple after i studied the videos before i tried to replicate them. my run was like this: laptop-> dongle-> 30ft cat5-> power injector-> first rgb module-> 5ft cat5-> 2nd rgb ->5ft cat5, etc (for total of 8 rgb mudles/24 channels) I saw no power loss from first to last rgb module. these videos were very helpful, http://vimeo.com/36677926 http://www.holidaycoro.com/kb_results.asp?ID=67 http://www.holidaycoro.com/kb_results.asp?ID=13 http://www.holidaycoro.com/kb_results.asp?ID=10 for my bad recordings of my displays/corostars/rgb strips (http://www.youtube.com/gotbluemilk1)
  6. i don't remember where/when/how/why, etc. but i was told that 4 conductor speaker wire would work? http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023904&p_id=4043&seq=1&format=2 i bought it and used it for my 4th of July show and it worked fine, but not sure if it's OK...???
  7. is this what you were looking for? http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/19936-diagram-for-5050-rgb-led-setup/
  8. thanks, i hate the video quality, but not sure if i want to get a new recording of everything...
  9. i dont see that option, where is it exactly? i want people to be able to have my videos played back on mobile devices too.
  10. wasn't able to get mine "live" until July 1st. played all week 1st thru 8th, off 9th-12th, back on 13-15th, then off until Halloween!
  11. so i didnt have time to fix the "B" and "F" 's (thanks for the suggestion/help!), but here it is... PS, 2 RGB strips (roof line) works fine for me end to end. i used 3 in the lower two which i was also too lazy to fix and color fade was obvious on the 3rd strip.
  12. ^can't see the colors of the RGB strips on the roof /Corostars that well (i was also lazy, i ran 2 strips top roof, 2 strips mid roof, 3 strips garage roof, 3 strips garage door outline, you can really tell on the 3rd strip (left side) the color fade/drop)
  13. here's a bad recording. audio not good and video too bright. will have to rerecord... i'm happy with my first attempt (along with Katy Perry Firework) at animated faces. I still have to fix the "B" and "F" sounds. mouth looks choppy.
  14. here's the new link (on the new forums) http://forums.lighto...outh-movements/ i have this sequenced to ~138 channels (with 8 corostar RGB and 4 strips of RGB). i'll post later this week after i take some video. sorry not "sharing", yet.
  15. how do you tie off your sleeve ends so that the wires dont fall off the end? photos would help if available please. thanks!

    4 conductor wire

so when i was suggested this 4-wire 18awg speaker wire, i shouldnt have listened...? http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023904&p_id=4043&seq=1&format=2

  18. ^good idea, wish i would have done that. i was thinking i dont want to have to spray paint all the wires, so i left it. didn't realize it was that simple to black them out. for sure next time, but hopefully there wont be a next time.
  19. how does the 1/2" pvc "clip" onto these hurricane clips? and how do the hurricane clips mount onto the house?
  20. stay tuned i will also post my measurements for all the ropelight lengths for all the faces to hopefully save some people some guesswork in cutting lengths.
  21. if all goes as planned, it'll be up for <3 weeks. i used 3/4" pvc and pvc glued together (whatever the guy sold me). 5' square with support beams in the middle. painted it black on front side only because i didnt like the way it reflected the light of the white pvc. ps making one of the faces with glasses (not taping/blacking out center part between eyes) since both my kids wear glasses and they thought it was cute.
  22. i have seen many posts with people posting their photos of monster quartet/singing faces. most of these have white pvc frame and chicken wire, so i did the same. i saw a couple with metal tubing but thought to myself "why all the extra weight?" i had a friend ask me "isn't the pvc going to warp with all that weight(maybe 10lbs im guessing) of ropelight and 100 degree temps?" OH CRAP! any comments/suggestions? the pvc looks like it's holding up really well on it's own, i'm worried about the heat...??? i'm thinking i might want to frame the frame with metal tubing, ugh. or just even transfer the chicken wire to all metal tubing.
  23. my front lawn is at an angle so it should be fine. pics/video after everything is set up.
  24. id be doing a patch of blue and a 50 string of white for the "stars".
