  1. This is my first year doing this. I only have 16 channels this year. Wanted to start small. I plan on buying at least two more controllers for next year. I'm looking for ideas on more props and music. As far as music goes, I'm wanting more of a traditional Christmas music but with a fast paced, jazzy sound. Any ideas? As far as props go, I have 6 mini trees, 5 "square" arches from 1ft tall up to 5ft tall and then I have two columns wrapped with red and white lights (kinda like a candy cane). I'm thinking of adding a spiral tree next year. Any other ideas on props that will get a wow factor? I didn't win anything in my local lighting contest and I want to win something next year. Haha. I'll post a link to one of my videos from this year. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

    Show problems

I had the same problem with my show. I upgraded to the newest version of the light o rama software and that has fixed my problem. I can't remember what the newest version is right off the top of my head though. But you could start there.
  3. Thanks. I do plan on adding more channels and lights next year. I havent really thought about putting different color lights on my "arches" but I like the idea. When I was thinking about building the arches, I thought, "Why not square? They would be easy to make and I've never seen them before." So I built them instead of regular arches. And the flicker in the icicle lights is more the camera. But they are cheap Walmart icicle lights. As far as the construction of them, it's just a 2x4 that is ripped in half. So it's basically 1.5in square pieces screwed together. 3 pieces per "arch". The width of the "arches" is double the height. So the first arch is 1ft tall by 2ft wide, second arch is 2ft tall by 4ft wide, third arch is 3ft tall by 6ft wide, fourth arch is 4ft tall by 8ft wide and fifth arch is 5ft tall by 10ft wide. They are spaced about 20 inches apart so it gives it a nice slant going up and down the arches and makes it look better from the side. If you need a more details on the construction of the "arches" let me know and I'll see what I can do to help. But it's pretty simple to make. Oh and when I was done, I painted them black so the wood wouldn't stand out as much. As far as lights go, they are all blue 60ct LEDs for a total of 2580 lights. Here is the light count per arch Arches - arch 1- 17 60ct 1020 blue LEDs - arch 2 - 11 60ct 660 blue LEDs - arch 3 - 8 60ct 480 blue LEDs - arch 4 - 4 60ct 240 blue LEDs - arch 5 - 3 60ct 180 blue LEDs Oh and as far as the soccer goals go, I haven't figured out the lighted soccer ball yet. I have wrapped it but keep tripping over the dang extension cords and can only kick it one time and then have to replace the lights. Go figure.
  4. I know everybody is probably tired of Wizards of winter but this is the song that got me wanting to do this. I've only got 16 channels and a little of 7,000 lights including the static roof lights. But here is my first video. Sorry if the quality is bad. It was taking with my iPhone. It's not perfect by any means. This is only my first year. Haha. But this is a sequence I downloaded and edited to fit my display to the best of my ability. Haha. We'll hope you enjoy it. Let me know what y'all think.
  5. I upgraded the software. My show started on time tonight. Let's hope that it's fixed. Thanks for the info
  6. Im sure this has been asked before but I've created a schedule for my show. The first 3 nights, it has started fine and runs through the entire show with no problem. But for the past 2 nights, the show hasn't started. I have to click disable show and then click enable show. After that the show runs fine. The pc is an older one but it's been running for the first 3 days no problem. The pc is only used for LOR. It's not on the Internet and was a clean install of windows a few data before I started my show. Any suggestions and what the problem might be??
  7. I turned the volume down on my computer to almost nothing. It seams to me working a lot better now. Thanks for all the info.
  8. I guess distortion would be more of the problem, not static. I was wrong in saying that. I mean there is a little static but it's more distorted than anything. My bad. Haha. I'll try and get it straight next time. Ha. Once again thanks. I'll repost and let everybody know what I come up with.
  9. I've turned the volume down on the computer but I havent tried all the volume settings. I'll try that when I get home and see if that helps any. Thanks for the quick responses.
  10. This is my first year having a show. I've got the show up and running with no problems as far the lights and controllers go. The only problem I've ran into is the fm transmitter. It's an EDM transmitter. No matter what channel I set it, I'm getting static in my car when I try to listen to it. Ive tried a different antenna and even moved the transmitter outside for testing. Same results. I have a stereo inside and it seems to work on that but it's only like 20ft away. Anything over like 30 or 40 ft, it has static and is sounds really bad. I've tried to adjust the settings on the transmitter with no luck. The main power panel for the house is about 4ft from the transmitter. The only thing I can think of is that is interfering with it. Has anybody else had any trouble like this?
  11. I think im gonna end up going with the EDM-LCD-CS-EP fm transmitter. I seem to keep getting told to get that one so I'm guessing it's a good one. Haha. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions on this.
  12. I keep seeing that the EDM-LCD-CS-EP unit isnot a plug and play. How much do you have to solder? I work at a computer replace store and my soldering skills aren't the best. It gets the job done for what I need done. Haha. Just trying to figure all this out before I spend $150 on something and I can't get it to work right after soldering on it. Again I could be wrong but that's what i get after reading about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  13. Just wondering if anybody knows if the fm transmitters are gonna be on sale? I need to get one and have been waiting to see if they were gonna be.
  14. I could have posted that in the wrong forum but it's helped me with my sequencing to see what it looks like and what the different features do. It helps to see it on actual lights. Haha
  15. This is my first year to do a light show and first time to use LOR. But one thing that has helped me in sequencing and getting an idea of what my display will be like is building a frame for my lights. Example 1: I am going to have 5 arches so I screwed 4 2x2's together to form a rectangle. Then I put 5 screws on each side to wrap the lights in between. I string the lights between the screws. Each light string is spaced out and i can tell where the arches are. Since my real arches are gonna be varying heights and widths from 1ft tall and 2ft wide all the way to 5ft tall and 10 ft. wide, It gives me a good idea of what there will look like (I'm doing this so you can see every part of every arch if it's lit up and it's not gonna be leaping arches). Example 2: I am gonna be using 6 mini trees. I made another frame the same way except using 6 screww on each side. I string my lights between them. I just turn this one sidways so the lights run up and down (kinda looks like the mini trees standing up). You can store the frames and use this again later. By doing this, I can hook my LOR controller up to my lights and get a better idea what it looks like anytime of the year without haveing to have Christmas lights through out the yard. This probably isn't a good option is you have multiple controllers since it would be time consuming to hook up. But since I am new to this and only have 1 16 channel controller and I wanted to hook it to lights, this has worked for me so far. Just thought i'd add my 2 cents worth. Haha
