  1. It seems to be every other power up that it falls off the network.
  2. I did the first time by removing the J2 Jumper and resetting via the HU; however I don't think that's necessary since it's set to unit 1 and after resetting I believe it defaults to unit 1. The real kicker is that I was going to do this again last night, but the power had been shut off with the timer and so when I went to turn it back on, it was back on the network. Not sure what could've happened. We did have rain here in LA the night before, but my enclosures are within are larger enclosure which was bone dry. I am wondering if a little moisture could have been the problem?
  3. So, I've had my show running the past several nights without any problems. Last night, I noticed that one of my controllers (unit 1) lost it's ID. I have 10 CTB16PC (first 6 are 2nd gen and the last 4 are 3rd gen) controllers. My configuration is using the miniDirector and an external timer to turn the controllers on. I've not had this issue the past three years in doing these shows, but now it's started. Any ideas?
  4. 32 channels & approx 11k LEDs in South Central LA (da' hood). Display is not up; however working on it tonight & tomorrow to be online by Friday. The rain on Sunday put a damper (literally) on things. Here are images from last year. Few upgrades - C.Crane replaced with EDM, Senheiser Utrlamizer Pro, & FM-TruMatch Antenna FM sign changed Adding Darryl's Mega Tree Base
  5. Thought about building the Ramsey TM100 Clone as outlined here: http://www.km5z.us/FM-Transmit-Antenna.php And a mod would be to replace the twin lead with the whips as here (no choke core): http://www.pacificlights.co.nz/en/2008/projects/fm_tx_antenna Thoughts?
  6. I bought the mega tree kit from Darryl christmaslightshow.com last year. Great guy btw. But I want to improve it (assemble/disassemble wise). Are there any ways I can raise the light hook with more ease? I don't have any welding skills - so that doesn't help. I used a stick to help push it to the top last year as I cranked it up with the winch attached to the middle of the pole. Also, is there any way to get the 2 pipes to slide over the pole pin easier? I am going to put a coat of black rustoleum on the pipes this year. At the end of the season last year, I noticed the rust forming on the threads, so any suggestions in that arena would be appreciated too. Ok, now off to drain the pool for the season. Attached files
  7. Wish I had 12 controllers to play with instead of my 2. Actually, I don't envy all the programming to be done in this short of a time span  , but I tip my hat off to you with that sequencing!

I bought the Belkin & did the mod - didn't work - & then "upgraded" to the CCrane - not as good, but did the mod & used a metal ground plate. That was better than the Belkin mod, but it still was horrible quality - mind you that I am in Los Angeles so there are very few vacant frequencies. (I get bleed over from KPBS in San Diego)! I just ordered the EDM-TX-LCD-EP yesterday - can't wait to give it a whirl.

Some FM receivers, such as ones that integrate with the MFD (Multi-Function Display) in modern automobiles, will also display the RT (radio text) field. The PS field is limited to 8 characters. To get around this limitation, the EDM, and most other RDS encoders, will implement "dynamic PS", which cycles a different 8 characters every couple of seconds. Even commercial FM stations do this. The RT field is capable of up to 64 characters. You also set the PTY (program type) field to your choice of 8 (soft rock), 12 (soft), 14 (jazz), 15 (classical), 19 (religious music), or something else. Unfortunately, there is no value that means "Christmas music" or "display music". Can you use the mini director with MP3 player to do the RDS or does it have to be the PC? If you want to use a program with LOR to output the song title to RDS each time it plays you will need to use a computer. However I use a mini-director, and I just have my transmitter repetitively scroll a message ("Merry Christmas! Christmas On Yorkdale -- KNB 95.5FM" or something similar, limited to a set number of characters). Such a message is saved within the transmitter. Meets my needs. I'd rather keep my MP3 Minidirector to run the show since I programmed on my Macbook Pro (with Boot Camp & Win 7) & need it daily at work. Not worth the extra expense of the RDS since I just ordered the EDM-TX-LCD-EP yesterday. I appreciate all the feed back. Per Flower Mound Christmas's suggestion in comparing the Ramsey FM30B & EDM LCD, "Maybe add a BEHRINGER – ULTRAMIZER PRO DSP1424P Sound Processor" which is discontinued. I ordered a Behringer SU9920 Sonic Ultramizer (replaces the DSP1424P) to insert into the chain before the EDM tranmitter. That should be here on Monday so I can begin experimenting with it. Once I get the EDM, which sounds like I will have in several weeks, I will post my results with & without the Behringer SU9920 Sonic Ultramizer.

  11. which EDM model? I live in LA, so there are no true "vacant" frequencies. 89.5 is my freq, which got bleed over from KPBS-FM in San Diego, which I am sure is an okay frequency to use (no LA licensed stations at that freq)
  12. Looking to upgrade to either the Ramsey 25B or 30B but wanted to get opinions on adding the KB9VBR J-Pole Antenna Went with the Ccrane last year & learned my lesson - get what ya pay for.
  13. And NV & NM... forgot those landlocked states that have palms... Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
