  4. *palm face* that worked.. Tim, you are my hero.
  5. That's the only way I haven't tried (the any ID part).. Must do that in the morning... I can't believe I forgot about that way to reassign as I had to do it that way last year as well, and I believe you told me the same thing.. Thank you Tim! -nnewby
  6. i tried that multiple times and nothing guess i shall have to call
  7. mine is all the bushes, icicles, snowflakes on the front of the house ;-
  8. I put a jumper on one of the units, nothing happened. so i repeated as described above with manually typing in the unit ID and trying to turn the lights on and nothing still. I also tried resetting the unit ID and then the lights on and got the same result.
  9. there isn't one on either, i'll have to go dig up one of the boxes to find a jumper.
  10. They were purchased last year. and where would i find which chip they have? edit: the boards say CTB08 V4 if that helps (they look exactly like the picture of the CTB08 in the webstore.)
  11. LightORamaDan wrote: yes, that is correct. I just tried that after the units being powered down for about an hour, and the LEDs are on solid after i turned on the Hardware utility (blinking before). I typed in the Unit IDs (01, 03; each at different times) and clicked the "lights on" command and nothing from either box
  12. Ok, I'm not sure what's going on. I have 2 CTB08s that power on just fine, they see the network, but the network can't see them. They both worked between 6-730 am this morning, then my father left a note wondering why 1 of the channels was on and none others were on, so I searched the network and it can't find those two boxes. I've tried to reset the unit IDs thinking that may be the problem, but even when using the "Ignore Error" on the Set Unit ID box, then searching for them, they can't be found. I've unplugged the boxes, waited and plugged them back in and still nothing fuses are fine as well...
  13. As long as they are full ON, LOR can control them without any problems.

    Did it again!

hey duke, do you know the mouser part numbers for the connectors and associated pins? i looked for an hour one day and had some in my cart, but cleared my cookies and lost them, so i figured that other people and myself would benefit from knowing what they are Thanks!

    leaping arches

Jeff Millard wrote: jeff, that's what i was thinking for my arches in my post about molex connectors.. those are the .084" ones?
  16. I was going to use the .084" connectors that jeff uses that are for 14-20 AWG, 13.5 amps. (i'm in college and i can get these a bit cheaper than the .093")

DanCampbell wrote: i was worried about possibly overloading a connector pin by some how putting too much current on the neutral; which if i do my math right, i guess wouldn't be a problem as i'd be using 12AWG for the neutrals and most likely SPT2 for the hots unless i can find something cheaper that works just as well...
  18. Ok, because when i get an idea, i run far and long with it; and because i like things to be easy to change (read: difficult for anyone but me to understand) - I've been thinking about expandability using molex connectors. I have an idea for this season to make some leaping arches (probably 4 or 6) with 7 sections. each arch would have 1 connector on each end; a 4 plug (3 hots and 1 neutral) and a 6 plug (4 hots and 1 neutral). I would also use connectors for the mega tree we're building and for a couple of other things. what i'm curious about though, is whether i can make a daisy chain of connectors (like they do in computers), for using at least 2 of the arches off of the same channels. i'm thinking i can make a connector thats wired to the controller and make a connector to connect to that, which would have 2 connectors that the arches hook in to. my main reason for doing it so modularly is for expandability; if i wanted to make it 3 arches next year on each channel for example, i would just make a new chain with 3 connectors instead of the one with 2. am i making sense or is that just random rambling?

  20. just to clarify, THHN is essentially AWM? and, back to jeff's post here http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=6977&forum_id=25&highlight=jeffmill why did you use spt2 and thhn? because you were using shared neutrals (using the thhn) you needed to beef it up? I'm just curious as i'm not up on the codes and cramming for college and trying to learn wiring codes is a bit much at the moment. I figured it was best to ask before i did something stupid like use all spt2 in the molex's i'm going to make for my trees this year...
  21. It's not the best video, but here's what i have to offer.
  22. it does that here as well.. we're getting a new distribution panel after the holidays, but the house was built in the 60s so who knows if adding anouther 50 amps and more breakers (for the show of course) will help the problem.. btw i'm only drawing <30 amp when all the lights are on (and it only flickers when there is a shimmer or twinkle... mostly shimmer)
  23. I have a controller, it's the first in line, that will run for several days, no problems, then it will just not work, the led will flash and the lights don't come on. i unplug it, and plug it back in, and it works just fine for a few days, rinse and repeat. anyone know what's causing it?
  24. Just waiting on the Roof lights to go up this week and the transmitter to arrive this week ( I hope) and the show will start DEC. 1. we live on a busy, kinda narrow road with no real place to park, so this should be fun if people want to stop and watch the 30 min show i have planned... {edit} by the way, how do you all put the music with your animation on your videos because it is so clear and not like you were using the mic on the camera {/edit}
  25. i feel like a duffas... i completely forgot about the "any unit" option... I guess it doesn't help that i've been awake since 2p est thursday... and that worked. thanks tim *princess voice* you're my hero {bats eyes} */princess voice* you get ceramic ornaments with crystal glaze mad by me. just pm me your address and i'll send them out when i get them done
