  1. check this out http://www.holidaycoro.com/Smart-Pixel-RGB-LED-Strip-12v-30Leds-M-p/659.htm
  2. Bear in mind that the strips are not "Smart" meaning that each pixel set (Red/Blue/Green) on the strip is not its own channel. The not so smart controller has typically have 3 Addresses on a DMX universe to iluminate the Red or Blue or Green LED's on the strip. Smart strips (With control if each pixel set ) and a smart controller attached to it will have an address on the DMX but also will have sub addresses for each pixel set for inhanced lighting effects. That's big bucks!!! the CCR by LOR is a "Smart" controller with a "Smart" strip and a power supply the complete the setup. I myself wanted to add dazzle with a Light Strips but turns out, the cost is about the same with CCR vs other smart products.
  3. Blinking means no connection, BTW Green? I thought controllers were made with RED led's Open your Device Manager and check your comm ports. should be there in the device tree. Unplug and replug in the adaptor to see if it appears in the tree structure. if so, the PC sees the adaptor.and note the port # Check the network cable from the RS485 adaptor to the controller. Make sure it is a straight thru cable and tests ok. if the controller is steady LED, open the HWU noting the port # and add it to the port choices and rescan.
  4. Arrived UPS today! , after purchasing three controller kits from the sale, I opted for the enclosures from LOR as well. After examing them, I had two concerns, first, the door has no gasket to speak of to keep out water and second, if I mount the box I must penitrate the back and compormise the integrity of the enclosure. Winters here are generally rainy with lots of wind, some snow on occasion. In a nutshell, how have others felt about this enclosure. My other controllers I mounted in some old Vicon CCTV PTZ controller enclosures, very weather resistent but I dont have any more.
  5. Don, I had this when I was new to LOR, ended up being a bad network cable from the RS485 adaptor to the controller. Make sure it is a straight thru cable also. hope this helps
  6. Fella's I dont mean to toss a wrench into the works but am concurned also. I use "Light Linkers" and this could be a challenge fo me. (i vote or a software controller polling utility w/S3 and a addressable relay output controller) next to my RS435 dongle.
  7. Well, I dont want to beat this dying horse intirely to death. However, Iv'e have come quite a ways with DMX and LOR enough to benchmark what works and what doesnt, but the S3 software is kicking my butt. In a nutshell (Iv'e covered the perticulars) [see The LOR DMX forum "DLX USING A DONGLE"] thread for backround on this issue. How can the Sequencer run a show off a PC with (1) RS485 adaptor COMM4 connected to (6) LOR Controllers AND (1) ENTTEC Pro adaptor COMM3 connected to (4) DMX devices? As is, only the Controllers OR the DMX Devices work. the "network utilities" are very strait forward but this is where I find this either/or condition. help would greatly appreciated.... Does S3 v3.5.0 only work ether/or or both ?

    DMX Using a Dongle

    DMX Using a Dongle

COM 3 is set for the ENTTEC Pro Adaptor, as for the Listener program, I start it with the control panel and then click "ok" when the butrton appears in thr screen. the Listener appears on the tray at the bottom of the screen. see shot #2 in the pic's Thanks

    DMX Using a Dongle

Bob, thanks for your input, COM 4 is set for the LOR RS232 Adaptor and it works fine with the Hardware Utility (as COM4 only and with the LOR tab as COM4 in the network utility) and with my (5) LOR controllers attached, the lights work fine. Works with the Sequence Editor too (Box in the lower right is blue Com: good) and if I do not run the Listener. If I do start the listener then the Sequence Editor the box in the lower right is red Com: error and there is no DMX output and no lights output from the controller. The ONLY scenario for DMX output is when the LOR tab is "None" in the network utility, the listener is running and the box in the lower right of theSequence Editor is orange: no comm port set). Regards, Paul

    ID switches

Good idea to connect the new unit by itself (point to point) with the PC using the hardware utility. Set up the address "02" in this way. Good luck
  12. I've been in the physical security CCTV business as a technican for 30+ years. The human eye can detect changes of image up to 30 cycles per second, after that it's a smooth always on view. divide 1 second into 20 blocks and alternate on off on off ... ect with the Sequence Editor, wirks will with "the "saftest flash you can do".

    DMX Using a Dongle

Bob, Thanks for the input. the Hardware utility only works for the LOR controllers when the network utility (LOR Tab) has a port associated with the 485 Adaptor, anything else creates a port conflict. Dennis, here are the setting pic's thanks guys..
  14. Baffled? i am running LOR controllers with a RS485 interface along with an ENTTEC Pro for running some DMX devices as well. The DMX devices work while running the Squence Editor only if the LOR side in the "Network preferences" tab is set to "none". Otherwise, there is no response to the DMX devices with the Sequence Editor. Listener runs ok in ether serario Note: I did see a red box in the lower right corner of the editor "Com Error" (no other details)
  15. I bought a (DMX512 USB Interface for Vixen USB to DMX Dongle Adaptor Enttec Pro Compatible) dongle on the cheap $50 with rather crappy instructions, however it does not work. I set up a test sequence, the network preferences sees it as; "Enttec Pro" Protocal; "Enttec Pro" and the listener accepts and opens. It flashes a green LED but no dice on my DMX device. I see dongles on B-Bay and amazon all the time and wonder, am I just pounding sand with this? do I need the Enttec Pro for $160 instead. Help!
