  1. We have had a sleigh and several reindeer made from plywood for several years now, bought them at a garage sale so no idea how old they really are. The sleigh hasn't weathered very well so I needed to make a new one. I also wanted to make it easy to take apart and put together so we can store it indoors. The old one was all screwed together. We started with a sheet of exterior grade plywood and one of the old sleigh sides as a pattern. Which became a couple of these: And then this: I think the inspector approves First coat of primer on everything, a couple coats of white paint to come:
  2. she had me at the horse pooooh aroma, she would never be able to sneak up on me.
  3. First thing I've won in years & years.... Hopefully just started a streak...
  4. After 12 months I may finally get my life back. Finally getting my 4th and hopefully final surgery on September 27th. Get a brand new shiny hip and for the first time in 12 months I will no longer be in pain
  5. A hint - click the Intensity Icon. I know of 3 different ways to add fades to a motion effect. The newest method call Drag Edges is very handy. It is shown last in the gif below. Hope this helps... Alan...
  6. Control the kids going into a show.... :)
  7. Ai: i know what you mean. Approx 5 years ago while i was setting up my display an older Gentlemen pulled up in a mini van to tell me about my display, between puffs of oxygen from his tank he let me know my Display gave him 1 more reason to live another year, I have not seen the Man again but i will always remember 1 more year even though setting up takes time and a lot of PAIN. So don't think what we do does not matter it does to Somebody. Because it gave them 1 more Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. 4 WEEKS !!!! 4 weeks (from yesterday) is the Central Oklahoma Mini. If you are interested in attending, please PM me and I'll add you to the invite list. We are getting a head count for charis/tables and food. So please contact me if interested. Thank you, Tom
  9. I go thru a lot of ties. Mounting my LED strobes took over 2000! There was one for each bulb plus some extras on each of the 40 strands https://vimeo.com/280309439 I will be sticking with the old fashioned ties.
  10. May be a good idea for some but not for me. Something else to carry around. Something else to misplace/lose. Different tension for different application throughout my display Cheaper with not buying it. Slows down progress (gotta handle the tool and material). and lastly, manually working zipties by hand has worked fast and flawless for decades.
  11. Here you go Bob. Added the brown Clock wire.
  12. Something like this should work. Obviously you can make each string whatever length that you want. Because the power and ground does not have to travel down and back up each hanging piece, the resistance is far less of an issue. Make sense?
  13. Here are a few of my 2018 videos. More of my videos can be seen here: http://www.buscochristmas.com/Videos.html I would also like to thank the forum members that have shared sequences. Wayne

After spending about an hour on the phone with dibblejr I'm now able to create my own sequences. After all these years, I now have new songs for my neighbors to listen to. It's funny how one little thing can get you wrapped around the axle. Still got lots to learn but, thanks to dibblejr I'm on my way...………………...
  15. I’m with Tom. Only gfci popping issues from using vampires and spt are when the connection is setting in a puddle, not once from snow. Worst part about vampires is that with some brands the plastic pieces are cut a hair too tight. So during take down I need a flathead screwdriver to separate the male and females. BE SURE POWER IS OFF!
  16. That's one piece of advise I always give to newbies. Figure out how many extension cords you need and then triple it. Then be ready to buy more.
  17. UPDATE: What I found out. The board had a prior owner. The 'config' was set to 98% Maximum intensity Range. Changing that to 100%, cured the issue (Wheeew!)
  18. drive 3ft x 1/4" rebar into the ground about 8". ziptie the middle rod of the tree to the rebar left sticking outta the ground. bamm. done.
  19. 1- I’m on my cell so can’t see your software version- S4 or S5. Whatever version you will need “Pro” to control those pixel controllers. You will also need several red adapters. Best to just buy red in the beginning since they are backwards compatible. I do not use S5 but in S4 there is a visualizer that you can add your house pic and lights. 2 &3 - the pixel tree will eat us 16 unit IDs. 5, 6,7,8,9,0A, OB,OC, OD, OE, OF, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 You will need a red HS adapter for the tree and more than likely a new network 4- the pixie16 with nodes will use 16 more unit IDs just like mentioned in question 2&3 - if nothing changes you would assign that controller unit ID 15. However they will start with the next available- if you add the device correctly it will Automatiavly load the unit IDs. You can probably add the small controller which sounds like a pixie2 to your regular network with your normal controllers. You would need to adjust your previous unit IDs or asighn it a starting unit ID higher than the last pixie16 leaves off. If you go to the General Hardware section of the forums you will see my sticky writeup on pixie configuration. There is a video it will help you set everything up. JR
  20. If this is the drive where your entire LOR data folders are located, you can run Lorpost.exe and point it to the new drive letter. Lorpost is in the c:\programs x86\ lor folder This assumes you are using S4, as your profile states.
  21. Unless it is in writing in your rental contact that they are not responsible for damage, document the damage and sue them in small claims court. If you take that step, keep documentation in case they try to retaliate against you.
  22. I just bought 10 light led strands from Val at Christmas-LED.com to repair a wireframe She sells a lot of various lengths along with the colored clip caps.
  23. As I said, you are welcome to call me. I will PM my phone number to you.
  24. I usually start setting up mid September and I set up the bulk of Halloween and Christmas and only turn on the Halloween stuff first. Starting November 1st I tear down the things associated with Halloween, webs, monsters and ghosts and set up the last things which are only associated with Christmas, mega trees and things. This worked out good last year as we had rain the entire month of November except for maybe five days. If I had to tear down Halloween and setup my entire Christmas show in November i would have been screwed because of all the bad weather.
  25. Looks more like a display and not a show. I wonder if the Mad Grab sale is what financially set him in a rut.
  26. Happy to note that my landscape show is running correctly on 5.2.4.
  27. Yep, first year. I'm a quick study
  28. Thanks for sharing your sequence. I was able to cut it up and make it work with my display.
  29. ~DOC~

    Paranoid

    Ah Ah WOW speechless.
  30. New neighbors at the old house parked on the street. It's legal, so I couldn't really complain. However, on Christmas Eve they pulled up 40 minutes before show time and parked in front of the house. It's not like it was the first night of the display, it was Christmas Eve. So I recorded a voice over that said due to cars parked in front of the display "we can not safely run the display this evening." About 10 minutes in someone yelled at them from their car, "Is your car in front of this house? He's not running the show because of it." (Baby monitors outside can pickup a LOT) They moved the car in about 20 seconds after someone called them out on it.
  31. Sorry, can't make the picture larger. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ol11pt8np6o9fss/Pixel-Editor-Wider.jpg?dl=0
  32. This is the finished sequence with pixel mouth movements. For this one I made the eyes move right and left and the brows move up and down.
  33. Gee, I was thinking exactly the same thing.
  34. Thanks! I work REALLY hard to keep it a nice clean set up. (I also try to keep all the cables and extension cords hidden as best as I possibly can!) - I want the display to be nice, but not "in your face!" So I'm glad you think it's the right amount! I don't think it is a channel overlap issue, because the show runs perfectly fine using the "Simple Show Builder" it just becomes an issue with the normal show editor, and scheduler. Ask and ye shall receive! Those are the only two videos I have of this years show so far. Looking at getting the other 16 songs recorded at some point this week! Thanks again for the awesome feedback! ~Matt
  35. So the 4 x pixie16 with ccr is ordered 64 ccr running on 4 pixie 16 controllers with the lor pro and supperstar for 80 ccr lets hope it all works one big mega tree
  36. Note- do not use “auto config” in HU comm port unless absolutely unavoidable and do not hit refresh for the comm port. It May take you a while to recover if you do either of those if answer “yes” to the “is this the com port to use for shows”. Once again NO is the answer for that JR
  37. Didn't think about this. Cable is pretty cheap also. Thank you
  38. I've had similar issues in my family, my great grandparents had a tobacco farm, they had around or over 500 acres, when they passed away, like you, family greed took over and they sold the farm. When they sold it, they also lost a LIFETIME of revenue from the Railroad that paid a monthly fee to cross their land, curt right through the middle of the tobacco fields. When they sold it, all right of way on each side of the tracks reverted to ownership to current RailRoad owners. They acquired all that land and 300 feet {600 feet total} on each side of the tracks for any future expansion they may want to add. Originally with the least it was the trackage and 75 feet {150 feet total} on either side of the tracks. That was a nice deal they had made, and all lost when they sold the farm to strangers. I still wonder what happened to the family cemetery that was on the site as well. Relatives can sure be STUPID! Especially when they think they can make a profit, but in reality, they lost it when they lost the Railroad revenue they'd have gotten every month. And last count I had heard the current owners before the sale of the property was paying close to $125,000.00 for the right of way through the farm. As said, STUPID! Now the RR pays nothing and owns that strip of land because the farm is no longer in our family. They thought they could sell it and still collect the revenue from the RR, they found out via contract signed by my late great grandparents, if the property was sold OUTSIDE the family, RR takes control and ownership of the property. Some idiots just DO NOT bother to research things like that before making STUPID decisions!
  39. Yes, Unit # is Unit ID. The video you requested is here:
  40. I use plastic or metal mesh on as much as possible, saves a huge amount of time.
  41. Dang dude. That’s great of you to be thinking of her so much. Makes me tear up.
