  1. We have had a sleigh and several reindeer made from plywood for several years now, bought them at a garage sale so no idea how old they really are. The sleigh hasn't weathered very well so I needed to make a new one. I also wanted to make it easy to take apart and put together so we can store it indoors. The old one was all screwed together. We started with a sheet of exterior grade plywood and one of the old sleigh sides as a pattern. Which became a couple of these: And then this: I think the inspector approves First coat of primer on everything, a couple coats of white paint to come:
  2. I had nine kids cry and was told off by one parent, overall a successful Halloween. 😁
  3. All delivery carriers are aware that all deliveries go to the garage entry door. They walk by it every time they deliver to the front door. I think decorations to them are like candy to a baby. All summer long no problem but as soon as the props go up they lose their minds and start delivering to the front door, which just as you mentioned never gets answered or used. Ive got some horror videos as to why deliveries must go to the closer door as well as do their employers. I guess they think cameras are just part of a prop or something and all of the signs are printed in a foreign language. JR
  4. she had me at the horse pooooh aroma, she would never be able to sneak up on me.
  5. First thing I've won in years & years.... Hopefully just started a streak...
  6. After 12 months I may finally get my life back. Finally getting my 4th and hopefully final surgery on September 27th. Get a brand new shiny hip and for the first time in 12 months I will no longer be in pain
  7. Control the kids going into a show.... :)
  8. Ai: i know what you mean. Approx 5 years ago while i was setting up my display an older Gentlemen pulled up in a mini van to tell me about my display, between puffs of oxygen from his tank he let me know my Display gave him 1 more reason to live another year, I have not seen the Man again but i will always remember 1 more year even though setting up takes time and a lot of PAIN. So don't think what we do does not matter it does to Somebody. Because it gave them 1 more Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. 4 WEEKS !!!! 4 weeks (from yesterday) is the Central Oklahoma Mini. If you are interested in attending, please PM me and I'll add you to the invite list. We are getting a head count for charis/tables and food. So please contact me if interested. Thank you, Tom
  10. I go thru a lot of ties. Mounting my LED strobes took over 2000! There was one for each bulb plus some extras on each of the 40 strands https://vimeo.com/280309439 I will be sticking with the old fashioned ties.
  11. May be a good idea for some but not for me. Something else to carry around. Something else to misplace/lose. Different tension for different application throughout my display Cheaper with not buying it. Slows down progress (gotta handle the tool and material). and lastly, manually working zipties by hand has worked fast and flawless for decades.
  12. Here you go Bob. Added the brown Clock wire.
  13. Something like this should work. Obviously you can make each string whatever length that you want. Because the power and ground does not have to travel down and back up each hanging piece, the resistance is far less of an issue. Make sense?

After spending about an hour on the phone with dibblejr I'm now able to create my own sequences. After all these years, I now have new songs for my neighbors to listen to. It's funny how one little thing can get you wrapped around the axle. Still got lots to learn but, thanks to dibblejr I'm on my way...………………...
  15. I’m with Tom. Only gfci popping issues from using vampires and spt are when the connection is setting in a puddle, not once from snow. Worst part about vampires is that with some brands the plastic pieces are cut a hair too tight. So during take down I need a flathead screwdriver to separate the male and females. BE SURE POWER IS OFF!
  16. That's one piece of advise I always give to newbies. Figure out how many extension cords you need and then triple it. Then be ready to buy more.
  17. UPDATE: What I found out. The board had a prior owner. The 'config' was set to 98% Maximum intensity Range. Changing that to 100%, cured the issue (Wheeew!)
  18. drive 3ft x 1/4" rebar into the ground about 8". ziptie the middle rod of the tree to the rebar left sticking outta the ground. bamm. done.
  19. Well lets see i had about 20 kids cry 1 parent cussing about dropping a spider on them 1 parent almost dropped his expensive Nikon camera when i dropped the spider on him and gave out about 300 bags of candy . It was a successful Halloween
  20. Awesome walk-thru, just too much for me as I would need much more time to tear it down to start setting up for Christmas. The wife keeps wanting me to add more each year to Halloween but it's too much work to get it down and Christmas up in a month.
  21. All, Just wanted to take a minute and say its been a pleasure to be on this forum. Everyone is really helpful. I have so many questions (and more to come) and it really seems even though you all are working on your on awesome displays you take the time to help a new guy like me. At that reply’s are rather quick. Anyway hope at one point I get to the point of helping others like you all have helped me. Sincerely DOC (Greg)
  22. My stuff finally arrived. 😃 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubhm9y8gy92bof3/2018-10-26 16.16.44.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/7adqb954y66unxc/2018-10-26 16.12.05-2.jpg?dl=0
  23. JR, is one of the best. After taking time to assist me, problem was solved. Had to go get the Rubbermaid container from the curb and place it back in the shed. Thanks to all that sent me in the right direction and helped. Bruce
  24. Dang dude. That’s great of you to be thinking of her so much. Makes me tear up.
  25. The weather finally rose above freezing today, so I only had to tromp through about 7" of mushy snow. So, I started really getting items up on the house today. The only house props left are the two giant candy cane clocks on each side, so straightening and then the wiring. Next weekend is supposed to be even nicer, so hopefully all gets done by then. I didn't put up the canes because we are supposed to get quite the rain soaker on Thursday evening. I'll get the yard props up during the week before the rain, hopefully. Here's where I am at so far.
  26. Correct. Also make sure NONE of the Windows generated sounds are enabled.
  27. Yes late, last year it was on Nov 22 so you had an entire week before Dec. So yes it is later in the month this year.
  28. Unless it is in writing in your rental contact that they are not responsible for damage, document the damage and sue them in small claims court. If you take that step, keep documentation in case they try to retaliate against you.
  29. As I said, you are welcome to call me. I will PM my phone number to you.
  30. Singing faces can be purchased at many places and if you use standard store bought leds and a CTB16PC controller you would onlyuse one Unit ID. A second option if you are wanting to change colors is LORs CMB24D with some dumb RGB lights. This controller only use one ID and you would be able to change colors. It also doesn't need a high speed network. Honestly, I wouldn't use pixels on a face. My choice would be the CMB24D and dumb RGB lights.

I'm a true believer in giving a computer all the possible resources it can handle, as in Ram memory, larger hard drives and the best video GPU money can handle. My show computer is a former server, reset into a desktop Pc running Windows 10 Pro. Older Dell T5500 and its got two Xeon E5649 CPU's within and 72Gb of Ram, along with two 2-Tb HD's, Nvidia Quadro K1200. It never thinks about slowing down and runs nice and cool. Yes, I could run an even better GPU but this one works just fine for, four monitors using LOR. When you limit things on the computer side, you start limiting proper speed of the show. I've got a much faster machine too but its really not needed.
  32. JR your work on singing trees sequences has brought joy to a whole lot of people on this forum ,thank you Dennis Laff
  33. Happy to note that my landscape show is running correctly on 5.2.4.
  34. 👍 There are bad folk that take advantages of typos of commonly visited sites to purvey p0ron and other nasties. Bookmark sights you visit frequently. STAY SAFER, Typos on our part do happen.. SOME OF THE BAD SITES LOOK VERY CLOSE TO THE REAL ONE, EXCEPT THEY JUST GOT YOUR LOGON AND PASSWORD. That is why some banks have gone to a 2 step logon.
  35. Thought you had stroke with LOR. Can't believe you can't fix your poll.
  36. +1, I am also sticking with S4 until they add some of the older features into S5.

Yep. Sucks. I buy 10” screw-in ground anchors and cable padlocks. I screw all controllers and 50watt floods to the ground. It keeps punks from stealing - but a pro thief could get them. I always assume a pro wouldn’t care to take anyway - because they have zero idea what they are and are worth. Someone did try to grab my floods during 4th of July show. His/her puny cutters wouldn’t cut through my cable locks. I know this because the scumbag lowlife dropped the cheap cutters right next to the floods. I just had to straighten my mounts a little. Didn’t even brake the cat5 cables. #fail
  38. Chill Dude! 🤐 LOL 🤣 It''ll be OK 🤖
  39. I just sent you my 6 ring star. Should be easy enough to remove the three extra.
  40. Matt, Is it possible to make a mark that follows the cursor on the timing line. It would make it easier to line up effects when effects are being added/edited at the bottom of the page. Rough animation to show what I am talking about. or is this something already there? that I don't have on? TIA, Alan...
  41. yup, certainly agree with that. And to add that although I realize there are LOR people here that want to get as much traffic as possible, we prefer less. Our display is really for ourselves, our family, and neighbors. Last year one neighbor called a local TV station and they came knocking on the door to ask about an interview and take videos. I told them politely to leave that we don't want publicity, and turned off the lights till they left. They were polite and left. The ultimate grinch trick 🙂
  42. I think there's something abnormal going on with your setup/controller. Having 50+ strings of these, and then seeing this in my LOR feed I almost pooped my pants. Then I did some testing. I tested on two different versions of older CTB16PC controllers and also on an old CTB08D and on all three the strobes worked just fine at full on. Whew!
  43. I am glad you posted this- now I remember where I started putting my photos after photo bucked started extorting is. Tinypic I have been looking every site I could think of. For whatever reason tinypic never come up on my google search. Anotjer member here had recommended it after the afformentioned event. JR
  44. I have this and can send it tonight. What’s your email address?
