How do you visualize CCB Strings?

This has to be in the forums already, but I sure can't find it. Sorry for the duplicate question in advance!

How do you setup CCB's to work in the visualizer?

1) There is no tool button for it - I assume you use the "CCR Draw Wizard" - but I have tried all the tools.

2) I need to draw two 50 string legs - one starting at 1, and the other starting at 161 (if you go by the count in the sequence editor).  The two strings need to be on the same unit ID.  The tools will not let you start past 50.  I'm stuck there!

3) The CCB's may be in reverse order (via the HW manager).  How is that taken into consideration in the visualizer.

I'm totally confused. Seemed like a simple task that has taken hours.  I can't seem to find it in the forums, but I can not believe others have not had this problem.  Am I missing some basic concept?

Thanks!

Thanks - Yes, I have seen these help files. The Master/Slave seemed promising, but was a dead end for me.  I can't seem to get arouind the 50 light limit. DMX does not seem to have this limit  (but my application is  is LOR, not DMX). Any chance I could get a quick description of how you do it?

I ran into this this and was able to follow Mike's directions to get it working. To get the visualizer to work right with my CCP's I had to setup my controller properly and then they worked fine in the visualizer. It was a bit of work to readd the channels, but I'm good now. My cactus runs ccp's so super important.

Oh wow, thanks!  I didn't pick that out of the help: "The Visualizer considers all of these devices identical and calls them by a single name: CCR.  Cosmic Color Bulbs & Pixels are represented with 2 separate CCR fixtures (one for each string), using 'Dual Normal' mode"

I'll try it tonight.  Glad I'm just starting out.  Realizing that after many setups would be a pain to go back and change!

  • I'm guessing that the ID is always assigned sequentially.  That makes sense.  I actually had to assign CCB unit addresses 2 apart.  When I did not leave a space for CCB's the next set of CCB's would interact with the previous ones.  I guess this happens anyway, but that option formalizes it.
  • Wondering how this will affect the flip functions
  • What does "number of end to end connected CCB's/CCR's" do?  I love the help text: "Num of end-to-end connected CCBs / CCRs: The number of end-to-end connected Cosmic Color Bulbs or Cosmic Color Ribbons." I hate it when help just restates what it is trying to describe.

Thanks!

The CCR controller (along with power injection) allows for 2 ribbons to be attached to a single controller.  This is not the same as the 2 strings of CCP or CCB.  Do not confuse the two. When end-to-ending a CCR strip, a pixel is changed from having 3 LEDs to having 6 LEDs.  In order words, you don't get double the resolution, you only get double the LEDs.  The controller needs this information to properly adjust timing for the data running up the ribbon.

All of that is documented in the CCR documentation.
