short 30-second clip to close out Xmas program?

Am debating what to do to close out our short Xmas program (first timer this year).  We are doing the ubiquitous THX opening clip, a song, a 30 second movie clip, a song, and then closing out.

Can't think of what to close out with that will let people know that the short show is done.

Suggestions?

Here's the song I've used since 2009 to close each evening:

Here's a link to a very different tune (only 27 seconds) that I used our first year:

I have songs running all evening so I don't really need an end-of-show tune as you describe. Still, the second one will work for your needs. If you don't recognize it, have your mom/dad take a listen.

I am planning on closing my show this year with   A Soldiers Silent Night on my singing trees  and then possibly a simple recording announcing the next show time for the next night and possibly a really short fade out of all my lights as the announcement plays for about 15 to 20 seconds..

This is the sound file but I plan on doing it for my singing/talking tree  which I am adding this year to my display.

Not just because I was military for almost 33 years but most of my friends and Family are military and I live very close to a military base... and I always remember them in my shows be it Halloween, Christmas, valentines day (nest year) or 4th of July.

Would like to see your sequence for the Singing tree for this one if ya like sarg. I have wanted to sequence it but been busy trying to get my Halloween show done and sequencing more Arch sequences for Christmas.

I combined with Kevin Dunn (Demented Elf) to make a formal closing announcement at the end of the show. There is a formal opening and closing announcement for each show. My show is 48 minutes long, and immediately repeats. Then a few years ago, I had Kevin record another announcement to play at the end of the night to let folks know the show was over for the night. Otherwise they wait for lights to kick on. That announcement is done without any lights on whatsoever, and is about 30 seconds long.

Sarge, I have used A Soldier Silent Night for years. First put it in the show for my nephew in law who was stationed in Iraq for Christmas, then just left it in my show as a tribute to our Troops abroad at the Holidays. Great piece. I get a lot of compliments saying folks appreciate doing that.

I used it last year also But for this year I am going to work on getting my singing trees set for it. I haven't worked on it much but will get it done before Christmas.

tThe poem's author, James M. Schmidt, was a Lance Corporal stationed in Washington, D.C., when he wrote the poem back in 1986. In Corporal Schmidt's own words (December, 2002):

"The true story is that while a Lance Corporal serving as Battalion Counter Sniper at the Marine Barracks 8th & I, Washington, D.C., under Commandant P.X. Kelly and Battalion Commander D.J. Myers (in 1986), I wrote this poem to hang on the door of the gym in the BEQ. When Colonel Myers came upon it, he read it and immediately had copies sent to each department at the Barracks and promptly dismissed the entire Battalion early for Christmas leave. The poem was placed that day in the Marine Corps Gazette, distributed worldwide and later submitted to Leatherneck Magazine."

Schmidt's original version, entitled "Merry Christmas, My Friend," was published in Leatherneck (Magazine of the Marines) in December, 1991.

As Leatherneck wrote of the poem's author in 2003:

"'Merry Christmas, My Friend,'" has been a holiday favorite among 'leatherneckphiles' for nearly the time it takes to complete a Marine Corps career. Few, however, know who wrote it and when. Former Corporal James M. Schmidt, stationed at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C., pounded it out over 17 years ago on a typewriter while awaiting the commanding officer's Christmas holiday decorations inspection...while other leathernecks strung lights for the Barracks' annual Christmas decoration contest, Schmidt contributed his poem to his section."

Over the years the text of "Merry Christmas, My Friend," has been altered to change Marine-specific wording into Army references (including the title: U.S. Marines do not refer to themselves as "soldiers") and to incorporate line-ending rhyme changes necessitated by those alterations.

In a somewhat sad, but insightful commentary on today's social values:

I first did that song four or five years ago. Nothing exciting (which is almost impossible anyway given the tortoise-like pace of it) but with fades and color changes. I thought I had a sensible balance. In all my blinky-flashy years I've never had any single song - even including 12 Days of Christmas by Mitch Miller and the Gang - in which so many people drive away.

At first, I thought it was a fluke. Maybe an unusual number of Muslims on the street turned off by my neighbor's cooking bacon or something... but it continued every time the song came up in rotation. I've cut back to playing it just on Christmas Eve, yet it continues to clear the street. I suppose people waiting in line find that satisfying, but I find it sad.

I use just a simple announcement timed to hit at 10:00 (plus or minus a couple minutes).  "It's just about 10 o'clock and that means the show is over for tonight.  The show begins every night at 5 o'clock.  We invite you to stop by again".  Right at the start I fade up the entire display, and as the announcement goes on I fade down blocks of lights until the whole display is dark.  Works perfectly for years now,.

Still Nacht has worked well for me. I added Brian's CCR tree effects and have them running on two pixels trees and people seem to really like it. Nice change of pace as well.

I did the German Version of Ava Maria ( Helene Fischer) singing faces if anyone wants to check it out.

Many here will not like it because it is a slower song and not real fast with a lot of flashy on and off fast flashy lights but is more kick back relaxing with slower moving rolling lights.

We close our show with the Demented Elf and Boston's Star Spangled Banner. Reminds us when we were kids and the television stations would always close with the Star Spangled Banner before going off the air at night. Boy that was a long time ago LOL!
