CCR Tree Base Width

Recommended Posts

I'm Building a 16 CCR tree and was wondering what the narrowest width that anyone has used at the base. I know most go 10"-14" wide at the base but I'm limited on room (but I still want a 16 tree, not 12) and was thinking about going to 8"

Has anyone done 8" or less at the base? If so, can you share how it turned out and the best viewing distance. Someone suggested anything less that 10" could be blurry?

I thought 8" or so would be a better resolution but before I start building my aluminum Frame (thanks for the plans Frank)  I want to make sure on the distance,

Thoughts? Suggestions (beside a 12 string tree :D)

Anything from 2014 is total distance at the bottom of 7.5 feet. 6 inch spacing at the bottom.

My mind was made up last summer when I started thinking of a ccr tree to have 6" spaces between ribbons. After you run a ccr Matrix with 3.5" spacing between ribbons for two years & how well the animated characters & texting looks, well I wanted  the ccr  tree to have (in my opinion) better resolution.....so 6" spacing should do.

The width on my 12 string tree is about 9.5 feet.  For 2015 I am going to a 16 string tree.  I will get the additional four strings in part by making the base a little bit wider and a little bit closer together.  Total width will be about 10 feet or maybe a little bit wider.
