LOR fixed my ELLs quite reasonably.. Thanks LOR

So today I got the bill for repairing two of my ELLs that had issues.  One of them had a bad board but they found another V4 and put that in and it is good.

So this whole thing of replacing a jack on one and replacing the board on the other was very reasonable given that they were way out of warranty.  The shipping cost was pretty steep, (cost me $8 to ship there and $20 to ship back), but I am willing to let that be and call it good.  Over all it cost about $34 each (averaged between the two) including shipping both ways.

Thanks LOR.. nice job..

We don't make anything on shipping.  I think we charge a couple of bucks for materials and boxes.  I'm pretty sure the Shipping department workers own stock in mfgs of Bubble Wrap and Peanuts.  UPS also has a horrible first pound rate, along with the surcharge they add because of 'residential' addresses.  Don't bother trying to tell them you run a business from home.  They don't care....

But with that said, I found your RMA and asked shipping that they verify the amount.  Sometimes (no guarantees) they can get it out the door for less.

Hi Mike,

While I appreciate your efforts, please do not have anyone waste time on this.  I am quite happy with the final overall outcome.

Thanks,

Mike,

With a great attitude like Craig has,

probably should just make his entire ticket go away.

Sorry Craig.  It's our pleasure to look at it again for you.   Like I said, sometimes we can re-do the shipping method to save money and I want to make double sure.

Daniel - Craig's attitude is definitely why I asked that it be looked at again.  Catch more flies with honey and all that :D

Thanks Mike... but I already paid the bill... I am not worried about a few bucks... besides the tech saved me about $55 by finding a V4 board laying around and swapping mine out for the one he couldn't fix.  I can live with that..

I heard back from shipping.  Unfortunately once properly packed, the items wouldn't fit into a flat rate box, which upped the amount.  Once we added in materials cost and insurance UPS ended up being the better cheaper solution - at $18.

It's all good!   shipping has gone nuts for everyone.  It is getting more and more expensive these days..

UPS changed their rates from actual weight to dimensional weight. For example if you have a box that is 12x12x12 you are charged a rate of 19lbs even if the actual weight is 5lbs. That has increased the charges by a lot especially for large box, light weight items. FedEx now does the same.

USPS is less on smaller items but still more on the larger boxes...even with ups/fedex rate hikes.

I tried talking to my acct rep. As Mike stated....UPS doesn't care.

I never understood shipping prices.  They are insane.  USPS seems to be pretty decent lately.  While for my few ebay shipments a year its easy to switch.  Not the same for an actual business.  Though I am a big AMAZON shopper and I noticed they started using USPS more lately.  I ordered some stuff the other day and it actually showed up Sunday!  I just did the free standard shipping.
